Stampin’ Up! Crafting Forever Do Something Crafty

Mornin’, y’all!  It’s the end of the week again!  Whoo-hoo!

Don’t forget about my Eastern Palace Ordering Special – going on thru 8 May (which is Monday!).  Don’t miss out on Double Peppermint points and more.  More details are down below!

My card today uses the Crafting Forever stamp set from the new catalog.  This is the second time I’ve played with it – it’s just so cute!  This time I combined it with some of the new Fresh Florals DSP Stack.  Take a look-see:

Yep – no sentiment on the front.  Decided to try something wild and crazy!

My layout is inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

And the color scheme is from the Color Throwdown this week.

I started by running a Whisper White panel thru the new Oh My Stars TIEF (avail 1 June!) for the card front.

Next, I stamped the Crafting Forever pot of paint brushes on a piece of Whisper White in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I placed the card stock near the edge of my Big Shot platform and set my Circles Layering Framelit die so that it would only cut a partial circle.

I ran it thru the Big Shot and then fussy cut the brushes – resulting in the image you see on the card.  Half circle…half fussy cut! 🙂

Then I used my Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder and Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker (this one is available on 1 June) and colored the art tools.  I used some Smoky Slate to color the bristles.  And I decided to add a few faux stitches with my Basic Black marker while I was at it.

I cut a piece of Powder Pink paper from the Fresh Florals DSP Stack and SNAILd it to the card front.  Over that is a shorter piece of Bermuda Bay 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon (1 June), adhered with some Liquid Glue.

I used a scalloped edge die from the Circles Layering Framelits to cut a Wisteria Wonder mat and SNAILd it over the paper and ribbon.  Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop my brushes over the top.

For the final touch, I stamped the Crafting Forever image in Basic Black ink on a piece of Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP and fussy cut just the pot.  Then I adhered it over the stamped image with some Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used the marker-to-rubber technique to color the words on a second sentiment from Crafting Forever using Wisteria Wonder and Bermuda Bay markers, and stamped it on a Whisper White panel.  I also added part of the brushes image in Basic Black Archival Ink and colored them with the same markers I’d used on the front.  To make the pot, I once again stamped the image on the Powder Pink paper and cut just that part out – then I adhered it to the panel and trimmed the excess with my snips.

I SNAILd the panel to a Wisteria Wonder mat and into my Powder Pink card base.  Then I SNAILd a Wisteria Wonder mat to the front of the card, popped my card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Crafting Forever brushes image – colored and pieced just like the others – on the front…

…and the envelope flap got some more of the Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP.

Et Voila!  I sort of like the simplicity of the no-sentiment card front.  Not sure I’ll do a bunch of them, but…I like how this one turned out.  Crafting Forever is just such a fun stamp set for us, don’t you think?  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

The Finn-ster had a play date with his sister the other day.

And we practiced a little obedience while we were there.

But mostly they did a lot of playing!!

And there was a little standing-over-the-top-of-my-sister…

On top of that, they had a little face-to-face with Maybelle.

Maybelle is my friend’s little cow.  She’s part Angus and part Brahma.  And she’ll die of old age at Jan’s house.  She gets fly-sprayed, brushed and walked every day.  And has an entire pasture full of grass and a pond.  And a little shed.

It’s pretty much cow-heaven.

Finn wasn’t too sure that Maybelle was a real thing.  He knew she was “real” – just wasn’t too sure what she was….she smelled funny, sounded funny and looked funny.

We don’t need one of those at our house, Mom.

Whatever “those” are….

  1. Love your card Mary! The colors are perfect and I love your design! Cute pictures of the puppies too. 🙂

  2. juliejphoto

I didn’t think you did cute! However, that is a very nice card. Love the colors and the way you cut the pot from the DSP. I have trouble using Wisteria Wonder, it seems a little gray and bland, but you pulled it off nicely. Looks like Finn and sis had a great time. Tell him cows are nice! He can herd them.

    • Every once in a while I can do cute! I like the Wisteria for some projects. Nice quiet color! Thanks much, Julie! 🙂

Love so much about your card … the yummy color combo, the dimension you achieved with partial die cutting and the paper piecing, to name a few things. With all that texture and interest, who needs a sentiment on the card front?! Finn has so many fun adventures and learning experiences plus a sweet sister to share them with!

  4. Your card would be perfect for my artist granddaughter. It was not on my wish list but then you waved your magic paint brush and voila, there it is on my future order list! Not having a sentiment left nothing to steal the show from your focal point. Can you read between the lines? I LOVE this card!!! Have a great weekend.

Sometimes, a no sentiment card is just the right thing to have on hand and this image is the perfect one to take center stage. Love the paper piecing! Glad to see you this week at FMS!

I like this card! The message is wonderful too.
LOL at Finn and …is it Scout? … I mentioned the cow thing to Clara, but she pretty much echoed Finn in our not needing one. She feels the same lack of necessity for a kitty or a puppy.

    • He feels the same. Likes being the big bro to the cats we have, but…also not adverse to eventually being an only child!! Thanks, Mom! 😊

  7. Your card is absolutely perfect for that sketch! Love it, so fun!!

  8. Elisha

Wow! What a labor of love – all of that fussy cutting and coloring – whew!! But it was worth it – the card is beautiful – inside and out! I bet you had one pooped puppy – what fun!
