Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  It’s color week and I hope that you’ll take a few minutes to check out all our projects!  And then maybe you’ll make them for yourselves!

The colors were pretty challenging for me – it’s a combination I likely wouldn’t have selected myself…

I needed a birthday card for a young man who turned two just a week or so ago.  And the Party Animal suite uses these colors, so…I figured…there ya go, Mare!  There’s the answer.  I added in some Large Numbers Framelits and the fun Balloon Adventures bundle and…take a look-see:

I started with an Emerald Envy card base and, using the confetti/sprinkles image in the Balloon Adventure stamp set, stamped it a couple of times across the front of the card.

My middle panel is a piece of Whisper White, matted on Crumb Cake card stock.  In the middle, I stamped a “balloon string” from Balloon Adventures in Crumb Cake.  And I added a sentiment in Emerald Envy at the bottom

.
I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to cut a large balloon from Whisper White.  Over that, I adhered an Emerald Envy balloon cut with a Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits die.  For a little bling, I cut a second polka-dot balloon from Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered the little cut outs in the negative space.

I used the Number of Years stamp set and the Large Numbers Framelits for the center portion of the panel.  I cut a “2” from a piece of Party Animal DSP and one from Emerald Envy card stock.  Then I adhered them together – just a little offset to create a “shadow”.  I used the “nd” in Number of Years and stamped it in Emerald Envy, then popped the number on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside, I used the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits to create a fun element for this card.  I used a piece of Whisper White card stock  – scored in the middle – and cut it with the large pop-up die.  Then I used the solid balloon image in the Balloon Adventures stamp set to stamp the three balloons in the cut out in Emerald Envy and Crushed Curry.  I also stamped the middle balloon in Emerald Envy with the striped balloon image.

Next, I cut two more polka-dot balloons with the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits in Crushed Curry and added them with Liquid Glue to the green balloons.

The sentiment is stamped in Emerald Envy, with a Crushed Curry banner around it – both are from Balloon Adventures.  And I added a little Emerald Envy bow.

For the DSP panels, I matted some Party Animal DSP on Crumb Cake and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the large die cut panel.  I also added some Crumb Cake mats behind the side panels.

I carefully folded the die cut inner panel and burnished the creases, laid it flat and put Liquid Glue on just the side panels, and adhered it to the card base, which I’d laid flat on my work table.

Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Balloon Adventures stamped balloon in Emerald Envy on the front.  I added a Crumb Cake “string” and then adhered one of the Silver Glimmer Paper cut outs over the top of the balloon …

…and added some more Party Animal DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t this a fun die cut?  Although the card is a little bulky feeling, I don’t think the recipient will have any idea that the inside of the card is going to be so cute and dramatic!  Hope you like – and will add it to your stash before it’s gone! 🙂

  1. That’s awesome Mary! I love the pop up inside…I’m sure that he will too! Doesn’t look like you struggled at all with the colors, fantastic card! 🙂

  2. Kathleen VanDeVeere

What a cool card for a little guy’s celebration!

  3. Oh, wow, I love your balloon, and the inside is spectacular. I really like that paper the way you used it, I have not seen it look so nice any where else! Super fun card, hope he loves it!

So, were you and Kristi in collusion on stamp set and card interior??:-)
Some little person is going to be so surprised when he opens it. Great use of the colors, and they are not ones I would have chosen to put together either, although, when I think on it, they are all NATURE colors, grass, dirt, sun, leaves, bark, flowers, etc. They go together in nature, so why not in a card?
Missing Finn today. I know, it’s blog hop.

    • Yea – everybody misses the Finn-meister on blog hop days. Not to worry – he was being pretty cute this morning, so…tomrorow will be good! Thanks much, Julie, and – no, Kristi and I had no prior contact! LOL! 🙂

  5. Beautifully done…these colours went great with this card. And the bling on the balloon ..wow.

  6. Kristi
