Stampin’ Up! Bella & Iconic Occasions Get Well Card

Mornin’, y’all!  How’s it going this week?  We’re experiencing the oddest weather pattern I’ve seen in a while!  Cold as a well-diggers lunch bucket one day, and so pretty and warm it just makes your throat tighten up the next!  The first official day was one like that – started off chilly and then…spectacular!  Oh – and my seed potatoes arrived in the mail!

Ruh-roh!  Best get that garden ready to go!! 🙂  Spring is a-springing!

My card for today has really nothing whatsoever to do with spring.

My friend’s friend’s mother fell and broke her hip.

Ouch! 🙁

And, so, they need a get well card.  She has a Bichon-Frise!  Bella & Friends.  Hello?  Bella is obviously a Bichon.  So I paired her with the fun little Iconic Occasions (Host-exclusive set from the Occasions catalog) stamp set.  Take a look-see:

My layout is inspired by the sketch portion of this week’s Fusion challenge.  Obviously I didn’t use the inspiration photo, huh?

And my color palette is from the My Favorite Things Color Challenge.

I started with a piece of Sweet Sugarplum paper from the Succulent Garden DSP and SNAILd it to a Sweet Sugarplum mat.

The art layer is a piece of Whisper White card stock, SNAILd to a Sweet Sugarplum mat.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the Bella & Friends image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  After inking the stamp and before stamping it, I covered the balloon on the stamp with a sticky note.

I made my balloon bouquet using the image in the Balloon Adventures stamp set.  First I stamped it in Sweet Sugarplum.  I covered that balloon with a sticky note mask, then stamped a balloon in Island Indigo and one in Marina Mist.  I covered both of those, too, and stamped the last balloon in Wisteria Wonder.  I used my ruler and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add 3 more strings down to Bella.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the Bella & Friends sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum.

With a Blender Pen, I picked up ink from the top of my Island Indigo and Marina Mist ink pads to color Bella’s winged friend.

With a Marina Mist, Island Indigo and Sweet Sugarplum Stampin’ Write Marker, I added a bandaid to Bella’s hip.

Her collar is colored in Sweet Sugarplum and I added a little “ground” under her with the Wisteria Wonder marker.  I used my White Gel Pen to add some highlights to the balloons.

The final touch is a teensy tiny little bow tied from a piece of Elegant Eggplant Solid Baker’s Twine and adhered with a little dab of Liquid Glue (speaking of which – don’t miss your chance to get a free bottle from me thru the end of SAB!).

I popped the Bella panel over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card front was done!

On the inside, I positioned the Get Well Soon sentiment from Iconic Occasions and stamped it in Sweet Sugarplum.  Over the top, again with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added two bandaids from Iconic Occasions.  One is in Marina Mist and one is in Island Indigo – both were stamped-off-once before stamping the card.

I SNAILd the panel to a Sweet Sugarplum mat and into a Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple of images from Iconic Occasions across the front – in Island Indigo, Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder…

…and added a little more of the Sweet Sugarplum Succulent Garden DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Bella’s sweet little Bichon face is going to bring a smile to the recipient, I’m sure.  And, I hope, help brighten her day!  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

Yesterday was a big day for Finn.

It was his first – ever! – First Day of Spring!

And, as it was a gorgeous day (not that he’s all that picky about the temperature!!) he spent much of it outside.

Which is actually a place he likes to be much of the time!

May I present to you my ever-so-handsome, almost 10 month old….Finnius Deatherage.

I know.  Cute as a bug one day…and handsome as a movie star the next!

He’s a man of many facets. 🙂

  1. Oh my goodness, how sweet is your card?? Love little Bella with her boo-boo. 🙂 Great colors and design! Sweet picture of the movie star too. 😉

  2. Patricia

What a great card & love the perfect addition of the Band-Aid!! Thanks for the “FFF” he is so awesome. Would it be possible to include him in one of your live tutorials…..just briefly….? The video tutorials that you do are wonderful, very helpful!

    • Thanks, Patricia! I was tickled with the little bandaid on Bella’s hip. Now – you’re the second person who’s asked for a cameo from Finn in a video! 🙂 I’ll see what I can do – his fee is pretty high!! 😉

  3. juliejphoto

Now, why didn’t I think of that? Adding the bandaid to the hip is a great idea! Cute card with a lot of caring tucked in. And Finn almost grown up is becoming quite handsome. (I think he knows it too)

  4. Beki Rich

I really like this card, so cute. Finn is my morning joy, our dog too! If I am in a hurry there is always time to check out one site, it’s yours and sometimes I go to the end for my Finn fix and then back to learn about carding. Love your sense of humor too and your writing style with The Adventures of Finn.

  5. I love that you bring to the forefront a stamp set I totally ignored…that band aid is perfect where you placed it. I would never have realized this was in a set until you shared this card. The weather is not crazy in FL 🙂 We are loving our cool mornings and warm days after 10 AM :0 Have a great day!

    • The bandaid on the inside (Iconic Occasions) was just too big for her little hip – so I had to free-hand it! 🙂 Thanks so much, Karen! :_

  6. RitaR

Your recipient is going to just LOVE the get well card you’ve made for her! I’ll bet she will keep it close by and enjoy it again and again! If Hollywood spots your gorgeous Mr. Finn …. well, just keep a close eye on him so they don’t haul him off to become a movie star! LOL

    • They’d be sorry. Finn’s Mom-ager might be a bit of a Manag-zilla! 🙂 Thanks so much, Rita – I hope it WILL make her smile! 🙂

      • RitaR

LOL!! If Finn goes off to Hollywood, you could end up being a combination of a Manag-zilla and one of those stage door Moms.

      • Would that be a mom-a-mana-zilla?? LOL, Rita! 🙂

  7. Kathleen VanDeVeere

The card is perfect…now, if ONLY a band-aid would fix the fx!
Finnius is definitely ready for his close-up!

  8. Such a fun card for someone who’s under the weather! Finn looks regal in that picture, too!

  9. Ellie Peckler

What a sweet card, Mary; I love the colors you used and the special touches. And as for Finnius Deatherage, that is a name worthy of such a handsome doggie! – Ellie

  10. Paula

I’m going to have to stop reading your blog and watching your FB shows. Costing me money! You are doing a good job at showing off stamp sets most folks didn’t do more than glance at. Love reading about Finn. That’s dangerous as well because we had decided NOT to get another pet after the loss of our 11 yr black lab. Finn makes me want to try again. LoLoLoLoLoL He also makes me NOT want to try again. So with dogs I’ll just live vicariously through you and Finn for now. Keep up the good work!

    • LOL!! You made me bust flat out laughing this morning, Paula – thank you for that! When we lost Buck, it took us a long time. I got there quicker than Wayne. I have to say, there’s days I wish we’d stayed dog-less. And then I look at his little face with his lips stuck in his teeth….and I’m gone again! Thanks for the kinds words – I’m happy to be helping you spend your money! Aren’t you happy you signed up and got that discount!! 🙂

  11. Well if this doesn’t help her feel better after that hip, I don’t know what will! Super sweet and adorable. Thanks for playing at Fusion. I hope Finn had a great first day of spring!
