Stampin’ Up! Special Reason Shaker Card

Mornin’, y’all!  If you’re coming over from Amy’s blog – thanks for stopping by!  If you’re a regular here – you know I love ya all!! 🙂

Just a quick note – I’ll be going Live tonight at 8pm Eastern with another share.  It’s going to coordinate with this card – and I think it’ll be a fun project!  Hope you’ll join me right here!  Well….there!                                                                                                            👇🏻

Now – my card for today isn’t a single-stamp-set easy and quick card.  Sorry.  It’s got a lot of steps – but I’m really happy with how it turned out!  I used my fave bundle (okay – one of my fave bundles!) – the Special Reason bundle from the Occasions Catalog, and the wonderful All Things Thanks stamp set.  Take a look-see:

This is one that worked along with three challenges.  The first is from Mojo Monday and it inspired the layout.

Next up is the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge, which is why this is a shaker card.

Finally – the overall look of the card and many of the elements comes from the inspiration photo at The Card Concept.

Ready?  Here we go,

I started by cutting two pieces of Soft Sky card stock and stamping them both with the Hardwood stamp in Smoky Slate ink.  I sponged both pieces with more Smoky Slate – getting the edges and adding color inside the panels, too.  To make the “wood” look like the old chair in the photo, I used a sponge wedge to wipe Whisper White Craft Ink in a horizontal motion on the card stock.

Once that was dry (and it takes a minute or some help from your Heat Tool!), I swiped on some very light areas of Delightful Dijon.  Then I cut the second piece down to the size of the shaker front, and used the excesss to tear into pieces to adhere to the card front.  Which I did, after sponging them some more with Smoky Slate ink, using Liquid Glue.  They’re to invoke the peeling paint on the chair.

I adhered a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon to the card front and then SNAILd the whole thing to a Rich Razzleberry mat.

To make the shaker, I cut the Stylish Stems flower (the solid flower) from a piece of Delightful Dijon card stock and from the smaller panel I’d prepared.  Then I adhered a Window Sheet to the back of the “front” piece and also to the Delightful Dijon piece.  I wanted the sprinkles to have a smooth spot to lay.  I rubbed both window sheets with my Embossing Buddy and piled some Sprinkles Embellishments onto the Delightful Dijon piece.

Then I added Foam Adheseive Strips around the flower opening and around the edges of the hardwood panel, and carefully set it atop the bottom (Delightful Dijon) panel.  You can see the foam strips in the previous photo! 🙂

I cut out a Rich Razzleberry Stylish Stems flower (first you cut the detailed image and then you cut that out with the “solid” die) and used little dots of Liquid Glue to adhere it into the cutout on the top of the shaker.  Then I used more Liquid Glue to adhere the whole thing to the card front.

My flowers are also from Stylish Stems.  I cut the backs from Very Vanilla and made two Pink Pirouette and one Blushing Bride detailed flower.  I lightly sponged each Very Vanilla flower – one with Pink Pirouette, one with Blushing Bride and one with Peekaboo Peach – then I adhered the detailed flowers with Liquid Glue.  I cut two little leaves from Pear Pizzazz and adhered them with Liquid Glue as well.

I laid down some pieces of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim with some Glue Dots, then added two flowers over that with Liquid Glue.  The third flower is popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from All Things Thanks and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  I stamped each word individually, cut them out, edged them with my Rich Razzleberry marker and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I added some Pearl Basic Jewels and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added another All Things Thanks sentiment in Rich Razzleberry to a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I inked up a small flower from the Special Reason stamp set in Pink Pirouette and used a Sponge Dauber to lightly sponge the ends of the petals in Peekaboo Peach, and stamped it in the corner.  I covered the flower with a sticky note mask, and stamped a couple of Pear Pizzazz leaves (stamping them off once).  I used my Pear Pizzazz marker to add a little shading to the leaves.

I SNAILd the panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat and into my Basic Gray card base, adhered the front with Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Pink Pirouette/Peekaboo Peach flower and Pear Pizzazz leaves on the front…

…and another on the envelope flap,  Over that, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped “Thank You” (from All Things Thanks) three times on Rich Razzleberry.

Et Voila!  I love the shabby chic vibe of this card!  Taking the time to “distress” the Hardwoood-stamped card stock panels was well worth the effort.  And the Sprinkles Embellishment colors are so in tune with the flowers in the inspiration photo!  Of course, the Special Reason set is wonderful anyway!!  Hope you like!\

FINN-FAN FIX….

So yesterday I showed you the preparatory stance of the Finn-meister just before he leaps into my lap.

Here’s what I get if I wiggle an eyebrow wrong…

Little more dog up there than there used to be, huh??  Look how “puppy” his face was – and how “not-puppy” it is now! 😩

What a labor of love ….. hope your recipient understands what a detailed process was required to create this beauty (thanks for sharing the design details with us)! Your distressed “wood” is great and what a nice surprise the shaker element added! Sure do love the photos of your big teddy bear; I can almost feel how soft and cuddly he must be. Which one of you is the happiest in this photo …. Mom or Finn???
