Stampin’ Up! Weather Together For Brighter Days

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope you’ve got nice weather and a plan for an enjoyable weekend ahead of you!

And I hope that you’re thinking about doing one of two things this weekend.  Either…taking advantage of my three-way super duper ordering special…or…taking advantage of Stampin’ Up!’s super duper joining special!  You can find more details on both down below my card share! 😉

I made a card today that I don’t need.

Yet.  I think it’s always good to have a card like this on hand – and I didn’t.  I used the Annual Catalog bundle called Weather Together (coordinates with the Umbrella Weather Framelits.  Take a look-see:

I used two sketches to help me along with this one.  The first, from CASE This Sketch, was the inspiration for the layout.

And the color scheme is from the FabFri Challenge.

To begin, I made my umbrella.  I stamped the striped umbrella image from Weather Together in So Saffron on a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it with the die in the Umbrella Weather Framelits.  I used the die that creates the creases in the umbrella so I could make it a little more dimensional.  Then I cut two little trim pieces – one from So Saffron and one from Calypso Coral.  I adhered them together and then to the umbrella with Liquid Glue.

I stamped a So Saffron umbrella handle and cut it out, too.  I colored the shaft in with my So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker and used the Calypso Coral marker on the handle itself.  Then I gently creased the umbrella to make it look rounder, and used Liquid Glue to adhere the handle on the inside.

I laid the umbrella on a piece of Shimmery White card stock and, using my alchohol-filled Aqua Pen and the lid of my ink pad, brushed some Mint Macaron “rain” onto the card front – avoiding the area “under” the umbrella.

I made a sentiment from a piece of Shimmery White card stock, cut into a banner with my Paper Snips, and stamping the Weather Together sentiment in Calypso Coral.  Then I lightly edged it with my Mint Macaron Marker.

Finally, I stamped three clouds in Smoky Slate ink and cut them out with their Umbrella Weather Framelit dies.  I adhered two large clouds with Liquid Glue and popped the small cloud over top with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used my Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil to lightly shade under the larger clouds for some depth.

Next I added the umbrella with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut the handle with my snips, adhered the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and then added the little end of the handle with some more Dimensioanals – so that you can’t even tell that the handle was cut!

The final piece was to cut some raindrops out of Silver Foil, using the little die in the Umbrella Weather Framelits.  I adhered them with eensy little dabs of Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the card front to a Mint Macaron mat and it was done!

On the inside, I added a second Weather Together sentiment to a Whisper White mat in Calypso Coral.  Around that, I stamped a veritable garden of blooms in So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral, using the little flower stamp in the set.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Peekaboo Peach card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I repeated my brighter days garden…

…and on the envelope flap, I watercolored a little more Mint Macaron and then added a Weather Together sentiment (“I’m here for you”) in Calypso Coral.

Et Voila!  This Weather Together stamp set and matching Umbrella Weather Framelits is a nice one – sentiments for several occasions and lots of image possibilities.  Hope you like! 🙂

FINN-FAN FIX….

I’ve created a bit of a monster.

A 55-pound lap-monster.

With spring-y boing-y legs.

That can do a flat-footed leap into my lap.  With no warning whatsoever.

Except…

As we’d say in the military – this is my WARNORD (Warning Order).  At this point, if I look at him and wiggle an eyebrow, he’ll be in my lap.

Best not to have a cup of coffee.

Or a computer.

Or….a cat! 🙂

  1. Beautiful card Mary!! Your clean design is fantastic, perfect use of those colors too! Thanks for joining us at Fab Friday, hope to see you again soon! 🙂

  2. I need to get this stamp set out. I’ve only used it once. Nice job on the trim for the umbrella and the rain.

  3. juliejphoto

Oh, Finn! I can picture you raising a cup to your lips as the Finn makes his leap! Has me laughing out loud. Another great card using a much under utilized bundle. Really like this one. Why do you use alcohol instead of water? Is there a reason?

    • The alcohol is a little thicker than water – so it seems to flow a little better and be a smoother result. Tip from a demo at the World Card Making Day last year! 🙂 Thanks, Julie! 🙂

Always good to not need such a card, but this is a great one if you do!
Somewhat redeeming for an unannounced boinger to have a face like that. Worth keepin’ an empty lap
    JIC.

  5. This is a fun set that really gets overlooked. You did a super job with your rain and clouds, too. Love that umbrella, very cheery for a rainy day!

  6. A truly beautiful and uplifting card. Thanks for joining us at CAS(E) This Sketch!

  7. Wonderful take on the sketch!
