Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Banners Pop of Pink Butterfly Sticky Note Holder

Home again home again!  Friday’s come and I’m home again! 🙂

Last week, I received a wonderful gift in the mail.  Inside was the cutest card ever, made with the Hey, Chick stamp set.  And…a Sticky Note Holder!

Now, my friend Jen, who sent these wonderful gifts to me, knows that sticky notes are high on my list of must-have stamping tools!  I use them all the time as masks – I mean, doesn’t everyone?  But, what she may not know, is that I have a general weakness for sticky notes!  I use them everywhere, for everything!  When I was working in an office, I had them all over my desk.  I used them as to-do’s and telephone notes and reminders to myself.  As I type this, I have a pink one stuck on the side of my laptop with customer ordering gifts written on it so I’ll get them ordered and mailed off.  I love them.

I wish I’d invented them, cuz then I’d be rich!!

Anywho – when I saw the darling Sticky Note Pad holder she’d made, I knew I needed to make one for myself (and then a bunch for friends!).  I used the Thoughtful Banners bundle, a couple of Elegant Butterfly Punches and some Pop of Pink DSP.  Take a look-see:

This one ended up playing along perfectly with this week’s Stamp Ink Paper challenge!

So.  These are pretty quick and easy to put together.

I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock as the base of my holder.  I scored lines at varying distances…

It’s hard to see the score lines, but I put the measurements there for you to see.  From the left side, score and fold at 1 5/8″, 2″, 5″ and 5 3/8″.

Then I made the panels to decorate the outside of the holder.  There are three different panels, all Pop of Pink DSP matted on Melon Mambo.

I used my Project Life Corner Punch and the corner rounder on my Envelope Punch Board to round the ends of the card stock holder, the mats and the DSP.  Then I SNAILd all the panels in place.

To close the holder, I used a small piece of sticky-backed Velcro – one on the outside of the smaller end flap and the other side on the inside of the larger flap.  You can see the inside piece in the next picture.  I adhered my Sticky Note Pad to the middle panel of the holder using Fast Fuse on the back of the holder.

To decorate the outside, I pulled out my Thoughtful Banners stamp set, and stamped the banner image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White. I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo and punched it with the matching Duet Banners Punch (get the stamp set and punch together as a bundle and save an additional 10%!).  I popped the banner on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The butterfly is made from two Elegant Butterfly Punch pieces.  I used two different designs in the Pop of Pink DSP and then adhered them together with Liquid Glue on the body portion of the butterfly.  I lightly curled the top butterfly wings to help them stick up a little bit and popped him on the holder with some more Dimensionals.  I finished him off with some Pearl Basic Jewels – and that was it!

You can see Jen’s most-adorable Sticky Note Holder on the right – she very cleverly punched the end of her holder and then created a slit in which to secure the end!  I love her little holder and hope I came even close to a solid CASE!  Hope you like – and will make one for yourself! 🙂

FINN-FAN FIX….

Well, I got a hero’s welcome home on Thursday afternoon!  I could see Finn on the middle seat as Wayne drove up to pick me up at the airport.  He was watching out the window and saw me, too!

Some ladies were sitting on the benches awaiting their ride – and they were smiling and laughing cuz they could see him and how excited he was!

Once I was in, he wormed his way onto my lap.  Well – half way.  Front half on my lap and back half on the floor behind the seat.  He rode there most of the way home.

finn-and-me-coming-home-from-the-airport

Safest way for him to ride?  Definitely not.  But…we got away with it this time.  And he got back where he belonged once he was sure I wasn’t going to be getting out again!

Don’t even look at the left side of my face – by the time I was able to get my camera out, he’d divested me of all my makeup on that side!  He also left about half-a-dog’s worth of hair on my hoodie!  Oh well – it’s an accessory, I guess…

I think he might have missed me a bit!  I know I missed him! 🙂

  1. Very cool Post-It Note holder! I apparently have a Post-It Note obsession (or so I’ve been told!) as well…Thanks for the idea to make them look pretty! 🙂

  2. Glad you had a good week and are back home safely with your wonderful family. I love this DSP. I think I’ll give this a try using Christmas DSP. You can never get Christmas going too early! Have a great weekend.

    • Yep, there was much wiggler-wiggling! But no inadvertent piddling, so…progress! Thanks much, Elisha! 🙂

      • Elisha

Oh yes, the dreaded pee sprinkles! Lol! Thank goodness Killian outgrew those😅

    Awwww…gotta love reunions!
I recall the mirror in Lubbock plastered with sticky notes! What ever did we do w/o them. Oh yeah, multiple NON-sticky notes, dislodged by every passing breeze and re-ordered thereby. OUT of order! Great gift for you and yours is VERY nice.

    • I remember that! Boldface and limits! OMG. So glad those days are behind me. But…must be the source of my sticky-note love!! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  7. What a fun note holder, I have not seen this design before. Love it, and yes, I love sticky notes, too! Glad you are home-look forward to seeing you soon!

Hi, Mary, I enjoy your blog very much and so much appreciate the wonderful tutorials you provide. One of the things I really love about your blog besides all the wonderful tips and info on the beautiful cards you do, is the update on your little Finn. He is so adorable and I always first scroll down to the bottom of your post to find out what Finn has been up to. Then I go back to read about the project you’ve made. I have a little Cody who is very amusing to me, too, so it’s like reading about a buddy of Cody’s when I read about Finn. I just love the way you talk about him and know that he is a very important member of your family. Thanks so much for sharing.

    • Thanks so much for the kind words, Beverly! Glad the tutorials help! Your little Cody sounds like a lot of fun!! 🙂

One project and one scrapbook page but I was clueless to what I wanted my second project to be. When I saw your holder I knew! Thanks so much for solving my dilemma. Cheers and Thank you!

    • Thanks much, Beth! That’s exactly what I thought when I got mine from Jen! So excited to see what yours looks like with new SU! goodies!!! 🙂
