Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Sleigh and Pines!

Happy Hawwmp day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well.

So, apparently I have a puppy with a bit of a jelly-belly streak.  He’s not at all okay with a cat being on my lap.  In fact, just last evening, Katy was on my lap and Finn started to come up, putting his feet…..

On my lap.

Right by the cat.

I saw my life flash before my eyes.

Fortunately, before things got too far out of hand, he accidentally bumped her with his paw – I’m sure it was an accident! – and she climbed down.

Crisis averted.

Much of the reason he doesn’t like Katy or Leo to be on my lap is cuz he thinks he needs to be on my lap.  It’s become something of a nightly routine.  He comes to the chair and gives me the “the look”.  I move the laptop and say “come on – hug”.  And he boings into my lap.

Like he was on springs.

And then, to show his total love and adoration…

Looks so sweet…and it is, but…unfortunatley I have horses.  And I know where that mouth’s been!!

Finally, he was done with the nightly hug and I was able to get on with doing a post for today!

My card uses the beautiful Santa’s Sleigh stamp set and Thinlits die set (FYI – the bundle (for 10% off) is retiring!) and a little bit of Pretty Pines and a touch of Detailed Santa!  Take a look-see:

My design hails from the sketch challenge at Stamp, Ink, Paper:

And my color scheme is from the Can You Case It challenge this week.

Finally, I played along with the Just Us Girls Word challenge:

Thanks to the great Santa’s Sleigh bundle, this one was easy peasy!

I started with a piece of Fancy Frost Specialty DSP and lightly, gently, barely touched the raised pattern with an almost completely dry sponge with Elegant Eggplant.  Just to bring out the pattern and give the trees a little contrast.  I also lightly flicked the edges with the sponge, too.

Then I matted the panel on Elegant Eggplant and then on Silver Foil.

My trees, from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set, are heat embossed in Silver on Whisper White, and cut with the matching die from the Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits.  I adhered two of them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and popped the third one over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a couple of pine boughs with the Pretty Pines thinlits from Silver Foil.  Then I adhered them to the card front with some Liquid Glue.

My sentiment, from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set, is stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Whisper White.  I rounded the corners with the corner rounder on my Envelope Punch Board, edged it with my Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Marker, and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Over top of that, I adhered a little bow tied from a piece of Elegant Eggplant Solid Baker’s Twine and 3 strands of Silver Metallic Thread.

To finish the card front off, I added an Elegant Eggplant star Enamel Shape on the middle tree.  Then I cut some stars from Silver Foil with the die in the Detailed Santa Thinlits and adhered them on the card front and the trees with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Santa’s Sleigh in Elegant Eggplant on a Whisper White panel and added one more little tiny Detailed Santa star.

I matted the panel on Elegant Eggplant and Silver Foil and then into my Elegant Eggplant card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done! 🙂

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Silver heat embossed tree from Santa’s Sleigh on the front, surrounded by some Elegant Eggplant stars…

…and more of the Elegant Eggplant stars on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Easy peasy quick and breezy!  The very hardest part was getting the bare lightest touch of the Elegant Eggplant on the Fancy Frost DSP.  After that, it was smooth sailing – due to the wonderful images and coordinating dies in the Santa’s Sleigh bundle.  Hope you like! 🙂

Mary, I love the colors you chose for your card and the clever use of Fancy Frost DSP, which looks like snow to me. Finn is the Tigger of puppies; I can just picture him boinging about! – Ellie

    • Thanks so much, Ellie! And, if I’d realized when he came home what a boinger he was going to be, I’d have named him Tigger. It’s the perfect name! 🙂
