Stampin’ Up! Merry Mice Hang Their Christmas Stockings

Good Day-After-Thanksgiving or….Black Friday.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m writing this on Thursday evening from the depths of a food coma.  I am not sure what happened this year.  I mean, yea – we’ve always got enough food to feed a small Army, for sure.  And we’re all stuffed when “it’s over”.  But this year.

This year we’re in some serious food pain.  Stuffed beyond stuffed.  Embarrassingly so!

Our problem, if there is one, is that there’s three of us cooking.  And when we set our menu, we all three have the things we always bring.  Which, if it’s the same every time, makes it a little hard to understand why this year…..we’re so full??  But we are.

Finn isn’t.  For Finn, Thanksgiving meant playing with 5 other dogs for a few hours.  He staggered into the house, ate half his dinner, and crashed.

Flat out.  He’s a tired puppy.

Which is a good puppy!

Now, as for today’s card.  Since this is the day after Thanksgiving, in my house that usually means it’s time to decorate for Christmas!  So the card I made, with the Merry Mice and Hang Your Stockings stamp sets and some Christmas Stockings Thinlits (30% off for Online Extravaganza!) die cuts, celebrates that plan.  Take a look-see:

The layout on this one was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch this week – although I turned it on its side.

I started with a piece of Candy Cane Lane DSP matted on Emerald Envy card stock for the card front.  My next layer is a piece of Fancy Frost Specialty DSP (30% off for Online Extravaganza!), matted on Emerald Envy and SNAILd to the card front.  Then I snipped a banner end in some Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon and ran a length of that down the card, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere it in place on the card front.

For my art piece, I stamped the three mice from Merry Mice in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I colored them in with my Real Red and Emerald Envy Stampin’ Write Markers.  Their bodies are colored in Crumb Cake with my Blender Pens.  I used Chocolate Chip ink for the little pants on the boys.

I stamped the sentiment from Merry Mice in Real Red under the little guys, matted the panel on Emerald Envy and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My Christmas Stockings Thinlits die cut is made with Real Red Glimmer Paper and SNAILd to a solid stocking cut from Whisper White.  I adhered it to the card with Liquid Glue and some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the holly from the Hang Your Stockings stamp set – the leaves are in Emerald Envy and the berries in Real Red – cut out with their matching dies in the Christmas Stocking Thinlits.  I adhered them with Liquid Glue.

For my decoration, I used the snowflake cut out from my stocking, and then cut another one in Real Red and one in Silver Glimmer Paper.  The  top red snowflake is adhered with Liquid Glue and some tiny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional.  The bottom red snowflake is all Liquid Glue, and the silver is popped on with more little pieces of Dimensionals.

And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Hang Your Stockings in Real Red on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I added some holly in Emerald Envy and Real Red.  Finally, I stamped just the front little mouse from my Merry Mice image in Crumb Cake, and colored him just like I’d done on the front!

I SNAILd the panel on Emerald Envy and then into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another merry mouse on the front…

…and some more of the Candy Cane Lane DSP on the envelope flap!
