Stampin’ Up! Halloween Treat to Wish You a Happy Halloween!

Hey, y’all – it’s Monday again – and Finn and I were both tired yesterday!  I did something to my neck last week and it sort of went crazy yesterday.  Better this morning, thank goodness!

Finn was…well, let’s just say…sort of down for the count yesterday.  While on most days he comes in from feeding the horses, eats his breakfast and then checks in with Dad to see if it’s time to go to work, on Sunday he…well….a picture’s worth a thousand words.  I call this picture “The Day After”.

He spent about 20 minutes just like that – the only movement was the chasing of dream chipmunks!  And some fluffing of flews….

It took me a long time to get the right meds and ice pack combo to reduce my neck pain to a dull roar, so it was much later in the day than I’d planned to make my card for today!  I’d been sort of designing in my head all day, but around 2 in the afternoon I had a bit of a “duh” moment!  My planned card was a Christmas theme.  And then I realized…uhm, doofus, it’s coming out on Halloween!  A Christmas card on Halloween might be kind of – odd?  So…I modified my design for Halloween, using the fun Halloween Treat a la carte stamp and some Halloween Night DSP.  Take a look-see:

The design comes courtesy of the Viva La Verve second challenge for October.

And I also played along with the Just Us Girls Wild Card Week challenge.

This one is really quick and easy to put together!

I started by embossing a Whisper White panel in the Brick Wall TIEF and then SNAILing it to a Pumpkin Pie mat.  The next layer is a piece of Halloween Night DSP, SNAILd on Pumpkin Pie and then wrapped three times with some Halloween Night Baker’s Twine before I SNAILd it to the card front.

I cut two small squares of Halloween Night DSP with the Squares Layering Framelits and two small scalloped squares of Pumpkin Pie card stock and SNAILd them together for the small elements of the sketch.  I adhered them over the middle panel with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Halloween Treat image in Basic Gray Archival Ink onto Whisper White card stock and then cut it out with a Squares Layering Framelit die.  It’s matted on a Pumpkin Pie scalloped edge square.  Using my Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker, I colored the little pumpkins in, and then used the Old Olive Marker to color the stems on the stamped image as well as on the DSP pumpkins.  And I colored the spiders with my Basic Black Marker.

The final touch is a bow made with two lengths of Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black Baker’s Twine and one of the Basic Black and Gray Baker’s Twine from the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine combo.  I adhered the bow with Liquid Glue and the card was done! 🙂

On the inside, I started with a Whisper White panel matted on Pumpkin Pie and added a strip of Halloween Night DSP also on Pumpkin Pie.  Then I snagged up the little spider from the Jar of Haunts set and added a few in Basic Black Archival Ink.

I SNAILd the panel into a Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

On the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added some more of the Jar of Haunts spiders…

…and then added some more of the Halloween Night DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The last Halloween Card for 2016!  Now my challenge to myself will be to use the rest of my Halloween Night DSP when there’s no more Halloween to use it on!  But – this card design could be modified for Fall or even Christmas – just change the color scheme, DSP and stamp!  Hope you like! 🙂
