Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  It’s color week, and since we’ve opened up to using other challenges to help us with our designs, I bet we’re going to see a lot of fun projects.  Be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

Check out the colors….

And I found a fun sketch at Sugar Pea Designs! 🙂

Now – before I get to the card, I’ll give you a little peek at what Mr. Finn’s been up to.  Just a taste….

…he was hot!  I’ll have some more for you tomorrow! 🙂

So, the color scheme really drove me towards the Presents & Pinecones DSP.  I know I’ve been using it a lot, but…it’s just so pretty (and it’s part of the buy-three-get-one-free sale)!  When I combined it with a sentiment or two from Tin of Tags, and some pine boughs from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I started with an Early Espresso card base to compliment the pine cones in the DSP.  The first thing I did was to run my panel thru the Holly TIEF, to emboss the actual front of the card base.  It added some texture to the card front – and even looks cool from the inside!

The next thing was to SNAIL two panels of the Presents & Pinecones DSP to Cherry Cobbler mats, and then to the card front.

My sentiment, from Tin of Tags, is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White.  Then I cut it with a Circles Layering Framelits die.  I matted the sentiment circle on an Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron scalloped circle mats.

The largest mat under the sentiment is a Delicate White Doily.  First I colored it in Cherry Cobbler with a Sponge Brayer – then I cut the Doily with another of the scalloped dies in the Circles Layering Framelits.  I SNAILd all the pieces and parts together, and then to the card front.

My embellishment is a couple of Emerald Envy pine boughs cut with the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  I also added a shorter Mint Macaron bough and a couple of Cherry Cobbler berries.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to the card front.  To finish it off, I added a little bow tied with 3 lengths of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.  I used Glue Dots to adhere two Mini Pinecones, then topped them with the Cherry Cobbler bow. And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Tin of Tags in Cherry Cobbler on a Whisper White panel.  Then, in the bottom corner, I used the berry die from Pretty Pines.

Then I SNAILd the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat – and the berries got their color!  Finally, I SNAILd it into the Early Espresso card base and the card was done.

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, to compliment the stars in the inside sentiment, I went with the stars image in the Christmas Pines stamp set, stamping it in Cherry Cobbler on the front…

…and added some more Presents & Pinecones DSP to the flap.

Et Voila!  This is one of my favorite color combinations for Christmas – and I kind of love how my Doily turned out!  Hope you like!

Be sure to check out Tin of Tags if you haven’t – it’s a really great set of sentiments.

beautiful card Mary, I love that designer paper and Thinlit set and you are making it sing!…

  2. Oh, love the layering under your sentiment! I was trying to figure out where you got that pretty Cherry Cobbler die cut…brilliant to use a doily and add a little color to it! Pretty, pretty, pretty! And I agree with Finn, enough of this hot weather. I wanted to put my head in the fridge yesterday too! 😉

  3. Mary, I love how you brayered the doily. I kept trying to figure out what it was until I kept on reading! Beautiful layers and of course the pine boughs are my favorites! 🙂

Beautiful card! I love the doily! You had me stumped there-wasn’t sure how you did it:-) Lol! And Finn is certainly making himself at home!! Cute!!

    • It was too big and I pondered it for a long time. Then my brain finally kicked in and the Circles Die came to the rescue! Thanks, Elisha! 🙂

  5. Mom

    Very pretty card.

I think, given my experience with a very smart dog, I might hesitate to point out the fridge to Finn! Just sayin’. 😕

Hi Mary, love the sentiment in the center of the card set off by all of your circles. It really pops and makes it feel to festive. Super cute!

  7. So pretty, all that layering is gorgeous!
