Stampin’ Up! Jolly Friends Candy Cane Lane for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop. We’ve got a color challenge for you this week – it’s one that you’ve seen me use before.  Okay – last week!  I didn’t realize when I did my card for last week’s hop that the colors for this week were the same ones! 😉  Oh, well – it’s a classic for a reason!  Be sure to see how all the other ladies decided to use these colors this week, okay?

Here’s that color combo I was talking about:

I played with the cute moose from the Jolly Friends stamp set, added a sentiment and a few little extras from Tin of Tags, and enveloped it all in Candy Cane Lane DSP.  Take a look-see:

And yea, it’s a Z Box Fold Card, too!  I saw that the Wednesday tutorial over on Splitcoast Stampers was about this kind of card and, since I’d been wanting to try one for a while, figured…what better time?  If not now…when?!

I’m not going to go thru all the nitty details in this post – one of these days I’ll do a photo tutorial for you.  In the meantime, here’s a link to the tutorial at Splitcoast, which includes a video – you can check it out here.

I stuck pretty close to Deb’s instructions, but I added a mat to my card base and double matted the art elements, as you can plainly see!

I started with a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock (pretend it’s Early Espresso – it’s all I had!), and matted a piece of Real Red to it to form the card base.  One cool thing about this card is that the final closed dimension is still an A2 size card!

The folding panel is in Crumb Cake, cut and folded like Deb calls for in her video.  I used pieces of Candy Cane Lane DSP, matted on Real Red card stock across the bottom narrow panels.

The “front” panel is a Whisper White square, matted on Candy Cane Lane DSP and Real Red.  I stamped the moose from Jolly Friends in Crumb Cake, and added some cool shades in Early Espresso.  To keep the arms of the glasses from going cattywampus, I used some small sticky notes to mask the edges of his face.

The little Christmas bulbs are from Tin of Tags, stamped in Real Red, then I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to draw “strings” from his antlers to the bulbs.  Then I SNAILd him to the front of the Z Box Fold and added a Gold Star Metallic Enamel Shape.

The center panel is again double matted on Candy Cane Lane DSP and Real Red.  The sentiment, from Tin of Tags, is stamped in Early Espresso. Then I added a couple three Real Red Christmas bulbs and a Gold Star Metallic Shape.

I used Fast Fuse to adhere the folded panel to my card base – be sure to only put adhesive on the part of the card that is actually adhered!  The video does a good job of showing that!  You want Fast Fuse for cards like this with moving pieces and parts.

On the front of my Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I stamped a bunch of Real Red bulbs from Tin of Tags…

…and added more of the Candy Cane Lane DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  My first Z Box Fold Card!  And I kinda love the technique!  It’s the perfect showcase card for this Jolly Friends moose and a great sentiment from Tin of Tags.  Hope you like – and will give one of these fun cards a try soon! 🙂

Card cuts and all the products you need to make this one for yourself are at the bottom of this post…
