Stampin’ Up! Christmas Pines Simple Joys for CAS(E) This Sketch

Good morning – again!  This is my second post for the day – if you’re looking for my Happy Stampers Blog Hop card, check it out here!

I was honored and amazed when the talented ladies over at CAS(E) This Sketch asked me to be a Guest Designer for them!  Wow.  That’s kind of a big deal.

I accepted with gratitude – and trepidation!  So, here’s a little life lesson I’ve learned.  When you’re doing something big – like this was for me – you don’t pick this time to think outside of the box.   I mean, yea – there’s a time and a place for getting out of that box, but for me, this wasn’t it!  So, I ran into my wheelhouse, slammed the door behind me and huddled with my back in the corner.  Holding my This Christmas DSP, and the wonderful Christmas Pines bundle in front of me for protection! 🙂

Here’s the sketch they asked me to design to…be sure to head over there and check it out, okay?

And – using the aforementioned protective stamps and thinlits and designer paper – here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

This one goes together pretty easy, thanks to the fun Christmas Pines bundle (my all time favorite!!) and the gorgeous sheet music in the This Christmas DSP (my all time favorite paper!)

I started the card by SNAILing a piece of the This Christmas DSP onto a mat of Rich Razzleberry and then Basic Black.  I wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the layered panel and then topped that with a piece of Rich Razzleberry 3/8″ Ribbon from the Ribbon Pack in the Holiday Catalog – securing them both in the back with scotch tape.

The central panel is a piece of Very Vanilla, that I ran just the corner of thru in the Pine Bough TIEF.  SU! has done something – something awesome! – and has made it so there’s not a “seam” where the edge of this folder hits your card stock!  Which meant I could turn it this-a-way and that-a-way to get just the part embossed that I needed!

I inked up the sentiment from Christmas Pines in Versamark and stamped it just below the embossed pines.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up!  I matted the panel on Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My art work is full of pine cones and berries and boughs.  I cut two Pretty Pines Thinlits pine boughs from Always Artichoke card stock and some berries from Rich Razzleberry and Copper Foil.  There’s a pine cone cut from Copper Foil, too.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere everything to the card front – after doing some dithering about where and how everything should go!  The last touch was a couple of Mini Pinecones, stuck on with Glue Dots and a little bow – from Basic Black and Gold Baker’s Twine – stuck over the top.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I matted Very Vanilla on Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black.  Then I heat embossed – in Copper – a second sentiment from Christmas Pines in the center and added a little holly spring.  I colored the little stamp directly with my Always Artichoke and Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Markers.  When you do this – don’t forget to “huff” on the stamp with your breath, okay?  That sort of re-energizes the ink on the stamp!

I SNAILd the matted panel into my Very Vanilla card base, and SNAILd the card front on as well.  And that did it for the card!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a bunch of little Christmas Pines holly sprigs on the front…

…and some more of the This Christmas DSP sheet music on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Not even kinda sorta outside the box for me, I know.  But…it’s hard to go wrong with music and pine cones, right?  Hope you like! 🙂
