Stampin’ Up! Jar of Haunts Basket of Wishes

I’ve lost a spider.

He’s just a tiny little thing.

Black.

The requisite number of legs.

Clear around the edges.

About the size of my pinky fingernail.

Know what I’m talking about?

You might guess it – it’s one of my favorite images in the Holiday Catalog.

Jar of Haunts Happy Halloween 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

As I was making today’s card, I pulled out the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  Started stamping my favorite pumpkin image.  Stamp stamp sta….

Hey!

Wha…..?  Where….?

Where’s the spider?

I searched the whole stamp case.  Looked under the piles of scrap paper on my desk.  Rolled back a little and peered under my desk.

Nuthin’.  Nada.

Tomorrow I’m going to take a flashlight and get on my hands and knees – I have to prepare ahead for this, it’s no longer the easy maneuver it was a few years ago – and see if I can find him.  Cuz….soon I have to run the vacuum.  Like – soon.  And it will definitely find him if he’s down there.  And then he’ll be lost in the vacuum vortex with some real spiders who had a bad day.

Keep your fingers crossed, please.  I want him BACK!!! No. I neeeed him back – I don’t know if I can make it thru the Halloween season without him. 🙁

Let’s take a look at the card I was making when I realized that the spider had flown the web.  As I already mentioned, it uses the Jar of Haunts stamp set and a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes set.  And a few little touches from….Glamper Greetings.  Sounds like a bit of a mishmash, huh?  Well, see what you think.  Take a look-see:

I let two sketch challenges drive this one – the first is the design.  Hand Stamped Sentiments #247 is where this one came from:

hss-247-sketch
And I played with a theme challenge from The Paper Players.  PP313 is why there’s pumpkins and pies on my card!

pp-313-sketch
I started by stamping the two little images from Glamper Greetings all over a Pumpkin Pie panel in Pumpkin Pie ink and Tangerine Tango.

Then I SNAILd it to a Silver Foil mat.  Over that, I added a piece of Halloween Night DSP, SNAILd in Silver Foil.

The pumpkins, from my spider-less Jar of Haunts set, are stamped in Tangerine Tango on Very Vanilla.  Then I used ink from the lid of my Pumpkin Pie ink pad and colored them in, using my old Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  I added some extra shading with more Tangerine Tango.

The stems are stamped in Soft Suede – then I outlined the stem portion in Early Espresso with my Stampin’ Write Marker and the leaves in Always Artichoke.  I used the Clear Wink to color the leaves with Old Olive – but letting the Pumpkin Pie show thru as well (which made a fall leaf color).  Then I colored the stems in with Soft Suede, still using the Clear Wink Glitter Brush.

I fussy cut the three pumpkins and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them onto the card front.

For my sentiment, I used the nice one from Basket of Wishes – individually inking the three phrases with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, and covering the other phrases with Sticky Note tape.  I inked the middle image first – then added a Glamper Greeting Pumpkin Pie pie on either side.  Then I stamped the first and last phrase, and added a pie on either side!

I cut it down to size, and snipped little banners on the ends.  In lieu of another mat, I edged the banner with my Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it over the pumpkins.  And that did it for the card front!

On the inside, I added a row of Glamper Greetings goodies across the bottom of a Very Vanilla panel – pies in…Pumpkin Pie and Jack O’Lanterns in Tangerine Tango.

I SNAILd the panel on a Silver Foil mat and into my Basic Black card base, added the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Medium Very Vanilla Envelope got more of the same Glamper Greetings images across the bottom….

…and more of the same on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A little Halloween-ish, a little Fall-ish…kind of a sweet little card for Thanksgiving, I think.  Hope you like! 🙂

  1. Oh, do I know how you feel. Lost the ‘feelers’ for my butterfly, searched high, low, dumped the trash, crawled the floor. Finally said my good-by, then one day reached across my table and stuck my hand to a roll off tape and YES stuck to the roll was, you got it, my tiny butterfly antenna. Oh was i happy to see that. Here’s hoping your little spider has made a safe WEB some where and you find him soon.
    Have a joy filled day.

    • LOL – I found another stamp in exactly the same way! Here’s hoping this little guy shows up before Christmas! Thanks, Seletta! 🙂

  2. What an awesome card Mary! Your pumpkins turned out perfectly, love the little pies too. I may have found your spider yesterday…one came skittering in the front door as I closed it. Which lead to a lot of stomping until if was finally able to smash it with my shoe…those little stinkers are fast and sneaky! I can send the remains your way so you can see if it looks like your missing spider (well…maybe a little flatter now!). Hope that you can find yours soon and not find it with the vacuum!

  3. Mom

I can do better than cross my fingers: “Tony. Tony, come around, something’s lost and must be found.” If St. Anthony can’t find it, you may as well run the vacuum. But…since he just helped me find Clara’s white flagyl that I dropped on the white tile floor, I am optimistic that it won’t come to that. If you do vac, use the hose and put a net of some sort over the end.
All the Mom wisdom I have today. 😃

  4. Glad you found the meds! Mayne Tony will spread the love and my spider will show up! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  5. Karen L.

Don’t you hate that when it happens?? The “poly” stamps are notorious for sticking to the darndest things……….great idea from MOM about putting a net of some type over end of hose. Good Luck on finding that little rascal………will be checking on the outcome!! Great card by the way!!

  6. Elisha

Love your pumpkin card – you have a wonderful way of combining stamps from different sets- love it! So sorry your spider has gone AWOL – I HATE it when I lose a stamp. I have found them stuck to the backs of stamp cases and ink pads. And of course, on the floor – right under my nose – grrr! Remember to stretch out before you hit the deck tomorrow:-). Good luck!

    • Ha – stretch before I hit the deck! Good advice! I found Mr. Spider – and just before I hit the deck, too! Story tomorrow. Thanks for the nice words on the card, Elisha! 🙂

  7. Mary

Look on the back of your stamp case, he may be hiding from you! 🙂

  8. He tried – he’d jumped ship! Story tomorrow. But…on the back of the stamp set was the first place I looked – I’ve found those things there before (sounds like you have, too!). Thanks, Mary! 🙂

  9. Hilarious story and I cannot wait for tomorrow! I have frantically searched everywhere, too, for stamps and dies! And, it usually turns up right where I was just looking. There has to be a better way…..
Moving on to the card, just great! I too, love the pumpkins and pies 🙂 yum

  10. Thanks much, Jari! And yes – tomorrow….the rest of the story! 🙂

  11. Did you find it? Love your card. Those pumpkins are adorable!!!

  15. The three pumpkins are beautifully colored and show off great on the dotted dsp. I bet this card looks great in person so you can see all the little touches of Wink of Stella and silver foil. You’re so creative to combine 3 stamp sets and come up with a wonderful card Halloween/ Fall card. Thanks for joining us at Hand Stamped Sentiments!

  16. Thanks so much, Genevieve! 🙂
