Stampin’ Up! Wetlands Z-Fold Birthday for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  This week was a color challenge for us to play with – that usually leaves things pretty wide open, so I hope you’ll take a minute to browse all the projects brought to you by the ladies-who-hop!

Here’s our color challenge:

Now – when I first saw this color combo, I was a little thrown.  The colors just didn’t seem “right” to me and I couldn’t imagine how to put them together to look good!

And then I realized it….Mother Nature puts these colors together every single day! 🙂  So, I pulled out my Serene Scenery DSP Stack to be my inspiration and picked one of my favorite designs in that stack.  I’d also been seeing some Z-Fold cards around on the internet/Pinterest, and wanted to try one of those, too.  Since, at the time, I wasn’t mad at Duck Duck – I decided to add a Wetlands goose.  Take a look-see:

Wetlands Z-Fold 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I just love this beautiful sun-washed grassy meadow in the Serene Scenery DSP stack, don’t you?

Okay – so let’s get started.  First, I made the z-fold card base.  I used Pool Party card stock, cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  Then I scored it at 4 1/4″ and at 1 1/2″.  Like so:

Then I folded it – gently for now and then, once all the additional parts were on it, with my bone folder – making the light blue dashed line a valley (like you would normally do to create a center fold in the card.  The green dashed line is a mountain – so it will fold back over the middle panel.

Then I took one of my Serene Scenery pieces, cut the three panels I needed and matted each one on a Delightful Dijon card stock panel,

Wetlands Z-Fold 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd two of the panels to the card base – the smallest and the middle panels.  For the inside, I SNAILd a piece of Very Vanilla to a Delightful Dijon mat and then SNAILd the already-matted Serene Scenery panel (this is the 1 3/8″ x 5 1/4″ DSP panel) on top of that.  And then I SNAILD it all into the card.

Wetlands Z-Fold 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The Wetlands artwork is stamped on a Very Vanilla oval – that I cut with the Ovals Layering Framelits.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the birthday sentiment, which I stamped in Old Olive.  The goose is stamped in Delightful Dijon – and then I cheated just a little bit and used a bit of my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add some color to the goose’s body and head/neck.  The Old Olive Marker was used to add some color to the grass.  I added a few Pool Party Enamel Shapes, too.

Wetlands Z-Fold 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the sentiment oval to a scalloped Delightful Dijon mat and then popped it onto the small panel with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Now – you don’t have to use an oval.  You can use whatever kind of central art piece you like – it just needs to be sized and placed so as to remain inside the confines of the card when its closed (or it won’t fit in a regular Medium envelope!). 🙂

Wetlands Z-Fold 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
And that was it for the card.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a Delightful Dijon Wetlands goose – and I colored him just like I’d done the dude on the card…

Wetlands Z-Fold 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and then I used a little more of the Serene Scenery DSP Stack to add a custom envelope flap.

Wetlands Z-Fold 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  I kind of love this fun-fold card – it’s ridiculously easy to do, but looks like a million bucks.  And the addition of the Serene Scenery DSP – I think when it’s closed it looks like one of those 3-panel triptych paintings!  Hope you like!

Card cuts and all the products you need to make this one for yourself are at the bottom of this post…
