Stampin’ Up! Touches of Texture For the 4th of July!

Okay – so….were you guys laughing at me yesterday?  Behind my back?  Did you think “oh, that woman is so goofy”?

Why didn’t any of you tell me that yesterday wasn’t HAWMP day at all?!?  It was TUESDAY!! 🙁

As I got ready to write this post I read the morning’s post again – I realized I was typing the post on Tuesday evening, which means that it couldn’t possibly be hawmp day!  Sheesh – I must be losing my head!  😉

Today (the actual HAWMP day!), I made a card with one of the cooler new stamp sets – Touches of Texture.  Now, you might think that – what with Gorgeous Grunge and Timeless Textures, we might have enough textural stamp sets.  But – this one is different entirely.  Well, maybe not entirely, but it’s definitely different enough that it’s a great tool to have in your stash.  So, I combined it with Number of Years and the Large Number Framelits and this is what I came up with!  Take a look-see:

Touches of Texture 4th of July 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Now, I played along with two challenges on this one.  The first is a color challenge and it’s what herded me towards a 4th of July card.  Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #242:

HSS #242 Sketch

The second challenge is from Mojo Monday. Challenge #453:

MM 453 Sketch

I started by SNAILing a piece of the Moroccan DSP to a panel of Dapper Denim card stock.  What a great set of designer papers this is!  Next I made the two diagonal pieces from two strips of Cherry Cobbler card stock, that I stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, using the long texture stamp in Touches of Texture.  Then I matted them both onto Dapper Denim and SNAILd them to the card front.

Touches of Texture 4th of July 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The focal art panel is made from the two largest dies in the new Squares Layering Framelits – the largest straight and the largest scallop-edge framelits.  On the Very Vanilla panel, I stamped the dots image from Touches of Texture in Cherry Cobbler ink.  Over that, I stamped the splotchy image in Dapper Denim.  Seriously.  Tell me that doesn’t look just like fireworks!! 🙂

Touches of Texture 4th of July 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The “4” is cut with the Large Numbers Framelits set – I cut one each in Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim.  Then I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the Cherry Cobbler piece onto the Dapper Denim number – slightly offset to create a shadow.

Touches of Texture 8th of July 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Using the coordinating Number of Years stamp set, I added “th” in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I used the new Labeler Alphabet stamp set to add “of July”.  Then I flicked the edges of the panel with a Cherry Cobbler-inked sponge, SNAILd it to its scallop-edged Dapper Denim mat, and used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card front.

The sentiment comes from the Suite Sayings stamp set – I taped off the portion of the sentiment I didn’t need – inked the word “Celebrate” with Versamark ink and stamped it on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  The banner end it just fussy cut with my snips.  I carefully sponged the edges with Cherry Cobbler, matted it on Dapper Denim and then used Liquid Glue and Dimensionals to stick it to the card.

Touches of Texture 4th of July 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added some Enamel Shapes – stars – in Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler and Silver.  But I still wanted a little more.  So…I cut three stars – using the smallest die in the Stars Framelits – one each in Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler and Silver Foil.  I used a stylus to poof them up a bit:  lay them face-down on a squishy mat (like your Piercing Mat), and run the stylus in the middle of the star out to the points.  When you turn them over….poofy stars! 🙂

I used a Stampin’ Dimensional in each star to adhere them to the card front and the front was done!

Touches of Texture 4th of July 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

On the inside, I started with a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the Touches of Texture dots image in Cherry Cobbler and the splotch in Dapper Denim, then SNAILd it to its Dapper Denim mat.

Touches of Texture 4th of July5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added a couple of stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes pack – these things are so cool, they’re flat enough to easily be used inside the card as well as outside! 😉  The inner liner got SNAILd into my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim images from Touches of Textures on the front…

Touches of Texture 4th of July 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and I used a little of the remaining Moroccan DSP to make a custom envelope flap.
