Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Layered Love Easel

Happy Friday!  And happy it truly is – cuz I’m at the hotel, jus’ sleepin’ in ma bed!  At least I hope I am – or at least laying in it doing a bunch of nothing!  This has been a….loooooonnnggg week, y’all – and I’m flat tuckered.  This long weekend has been the beacon of hope – the light at the end of the first part of the tunnel.  Four beautiful days off.  Oh.  My.  Goodness. 😉

This card for today is another easel card.  I apologize for the quick duplication – but…my friend here asked me for a card (short notice!) for his wife.  He/they are moving across the country and she’s leaving her teaching job in CA.  He wanted a card to give her.  When I ask him what he wanted to say…he kind of looked blank.  After some prompting, he wants to tell her that he loves her and that he’s grateful for all she does.

Awwww.  That’s totally sweet – even if he needed a little “help” to get there!  Yea – he vacuums and cleans the house, too – he’s one of the good guys!  So, I really wanted it to be special for him and be a bit of a “wow” card – so the easel card made sense to me.  And since it’s so easy…well.  It was a no-brainer.

I also had the perfect sentiment in mind – from the new (it’s almost here, folks!  Wednesday!!) stamp set called Layered Love.  And One Big Meaning also has a great sentiment.  I pulled Awesomely Artistic for the beautiful images.  Take a look-see:

So – the easel is just a secondary piece of the card!  The Awesomely Artistic flowers definitely take front and center.

The design of the card comes from The Paper Players Challenge #296:

PP#296 Sketch

And I used the Flowers theme from Stamp Ink Paper challenge #49:

SIP #49

I started out by making my flowers.  On a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped the Awesomely Artistic flower image in Versamark, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Then I colored it all in – using my Clear Wink of Stella for a little shine.  I picked up ink from the lids of my Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo inks and colored everything in.  And then I fussy cut the outline of the image.

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Now – don’t be fooled!  I only cut the outline – the inside portion of the stamp is “faux fussy cut”!  I used my Dapper Denim Stampin’ Write marker to color in the Very Vanilla inside portion of the image.  Between that and the fact that I adhered it to Dapper Denim card stock – it made it just kind of disappear! 🙂

I layered up the circular element for the sketch – I punched a 2 1/2″ Circle from Sweet Sugarplum card stock (this punch is retiring soon!); over that is a 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle punch (also retiring) from Basic Black; and the final layer is a 2″ Circle from Dapper Denim.  I layered them up with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Before adding the flowers, I wound some Gold Metallic Thread around in big loops, securing them with Glue Dots.  Finally, I popped the Awesomely Artistic flowers over all of that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used a lot of them – cut in tiny pieces to support the outside flowers.

For the card front itself, I stamped the sweet sentiment from Layered Love in Sweet Sugarplum near the bottom center of a Very Vanilla panel.  Then, using Smoky Slate ink, I stamped the Awesomely Artistic splotches image all over.  I added some of the small fern image – also from Awesomely Artistic – in Dapper Denim.  Since I just wanted faint images, I stamped them off four time – yep, four! – before I stamped the card.  Using a Sponge Dauber, I flicked the edges with Smoky Slate and adhered the flower-art circle with SNAIL.

Then I SNAILd the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and then to a Basic Black mat.

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

On the inside, I used another Very Vanilla panel and added some Smoky Slate splotches, and stamped-off-four-times Dapper Denim ferns.  I flicked the edges with Smoky Slate and SNAILd it to a Dapper Denim and Basic Black Mat.  Then I SNAILd it into a Sweet Sugarplum card base – that had been double folded in preparation for my “easel”.  I gave dimensions in my post where I showed you my Painter’s Palette Fun Fold Easel card.  Check it out here!

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The easel “stop” began with a Very Vanilla panel to which I added the perfectly perfect-for-this-card sentiment from One Big Meaning in Sweet Sugarplum and a Dapper Denim stamped-off-a-lot fern.  I flicked the edges with Smoky Slate and SNAILd it to a Dapper Denim and Basic Black mat.  Then I popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The easel “stop” is smaller on this card than on my Painter’s Palette card – and it’s down close to the bottom of the inner liner.  I wanted to give my bud plenty of room to write something special to his lady! 🙂

All that remained was to SNAIL the card front to the lower portion of the easel card base and add a few embellishments.  I stuck little tiny Pearl Basic Jewels in the centers of the flowers and tied a little bow from Dapper Denim 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon.  I adhered it with a Glue Dot and the card was done!

The Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Smoky Slate Awesomely Artistic splotches and Dapper Denim ferns….

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and I did the same again on the inside of the flap.

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  I am more than pleased with how this one turned out.  I love that adding one fold to a card can make such a “wow!” statement.  My friend was really happy when I gave it to him – I’m excited to hear what his wife thinks.  It’s so cool to make cards for a specific person and a specific reason.  Not only does it give some direction to the card – but the happy looks when they see the creation…well.  You know. 🙂

Scroll on down and I’ll give you the card cuts and all the deets on what you need to make this card yourself!
