Stampin’ Up! Love You Sew Number of Years

Hello hello!  Welcome to another week of stampin’ and makin’ here at Stamps-N-Lingers!  I’m feeling awfully perky this evening as I type up the post for Monday.  Wayne and I spent much of the day at a Shoe Repair Expo.  Yes.  That’s a thing! 😉  It was fun – and fueled our long-tamped-down desire to open a shoe repair of our own.

Add in the fact that the day was gorgeous…well, I’m just in a good mood! 🙂

So – the card I have to share is a fun Birthday Card.  I combined two great Occasions catalog stamp sets – the Love You Sew host set and the Number of Years bundle.  Take a look-see:

Love You Sew Number of Years 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The layout is inspired by the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #166:

CTS 166 Sketch

I started by building the card front.  Using the stitching images from Love You Sew, in Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron, I made a “sampler” in the top portion of a Whisper White panel.  I started in the two top corners, just kind of randomly alternating images and colors, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get everything lined up.  Once each corner was done a little ways, I masked them off with sticky notes and did another grouping of stitches.  I kept repeating that, moving the sticky notes around, until I’d covered the top portion of the card.

On the bottom part, I put all four of the button stamps from Love You Sew on an acrylic block, and stamped them in So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz.  Finally, I used the scattered…confetti?….glitter?…I’m not sure what it is, but it’s cute!…and stamped it all over in between the buttons in Blushing Bride.  Then I SNAILd that panel to a So Saffron card stock mat.

Love You Sew Number of Years 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The center art started with a piece of the Love Blossoms DSP stack that I stamped the x-stitches on in Pear Pizzaz, once more using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  For the sentiment, I stamped it in Blushing Bride on Whisper White card stock and punched it out with my 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (this one is new to me – I think I have a punch problem….!).  It’s matted on So Saffron, which I cut with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I SNAILd them together, and then hand-drew straight stitches around the mat with my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker.

I SNAILd the layered sentiment circle to the Love Blossoms Panel and then SNAILd the whole thing to the card front.  And then it was time to live up to my claim in the sentiment – and embellish the heck out of the card! 🙂

On some scrap Whisper White, I stamped two spools – one in Blushing Bride and one in So Saffron. I also stamped three pairs of scissors in Smoky Slate.  I colored the scissors handles with Gold Wink Of Stella – my mom and grandmother always seemed to have a little tiny pair of thread snippers, with gold handles.  Shaped like….herons? Storks? Some kind of bird with a long beak…. 🙂  I also brushed the “metal” part of the scissor with the Clear Wink.  And then I fussy cut the spools and the scissors.

For the two spools, I wound a short length of Baker’s Twine around them, using a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue on the backside to hold it on.  I used Blushing Bride (now retired, sorry!) and Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine, respectively.

I added the spools to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I sort of draped their threads around, using more little dabs of Liquid Glue to keep their casual and loose draping completely controlled!  On the pink thread, I glued a Gold Basic Metal Button over the end and then added a tiny bow with another dab of Liquid Glue.  I added a scissors to each length of thread, sort of making it look like they were just on the verge of making a cut!  I added two more Gold Basic Metal Buttons and the card front was done!

The inside is where I did a little fibbing….I used the Number of Years stamp set to stamp the numbers in Blushing Bride.  Then I added the flower image – Pear Pizzazz for the leaves and stems…and So Saffron for the flowers.  I added “Happy” in Pear Pizzazz above the numbers, and then stamped “Birthday” on Whisper White.  I added the banner image – this is all from Number of Years – in So Saffron around the sentiment and then cut it with the matching die in the Large Number Framelits.  I popped that on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then used Liquid Glue to add the third cut out pair of scissors.

Finally, I added the “{AGAIN}” down in the bottom corner in So Saffron.  I SNAILd it to a So Saffron panel and then into my Pear Pizzazz card base.

I SNAILd the card front on – I’ve got several layers of “popping” on this card, so….figured I’d try to reduce thickness wherever I could!

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added another set of Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride/So Saffron Number of Years flowers to the front.  I even gave it another Love You Sew scissors…

…And, in another effort to keep the thickness down, I made a liner with Whisper White Envelope Paper.  I stamped more of the Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron Love You Sew buttons and Blushing Bride….speckles….and cut it with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Et Voila!  A happy birthday card celebrating 29 wonderful years on earth!  However many times that might be taking to get it right! 🙂

I kind of love how the sentiments in these stamp sets sort of dove-tail into a tongue-in-cheek fun birthday card!

Tomorrow’s Tuesday so that means new Weekly Deals  – if you’ve got your eye on something from this week’s deals, now’s the time! 🙂
