Stampin’ Up! Rose Garden Happy Birthday for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

Good morning, y’all – it’s Thursday and that means it’s Happy Stampers Blog Hop Day!  I’m sure happy that you’re taking time out of your busy day to stop by and see what we’re all up to this week!

Today we had a color challenge – you’ve probably figured out that we alternate weeks: sketch-color-sketch…  The color challenge for today was to use three colors that really complement each other perfectly!

Working this card made me realize something…Mossy Meadow – one of my all-time favorite colors! – will be going away soon. 🙁  It’s part of the 2014-2016 In Color collection – and, as it’s 2016….well.  It – along with Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist will be yielding their spot in the Annual Catalog to….the new colors for 2016-2018!  I know those are going to be beautiful, but I’m sure gonna miss a few of these!  And that’s a head-up for you guys, as well – if these are favorites of yours, it might be time to start stocking up! 😉

So, for this card,  I pulled out some Birthday Bouquet DSP and the Rose Garden Thinlits.  I used a little White and Gold as neutrals with the challenge colors.  Take a look-see:

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I built the card front by SNAILing a piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP onto a mat of Mossy Meadow and then to a second mat of Blushing Bride.  I wrapped a length of Wild Wasabi 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon around the stacked panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  And set it aside while I built the circle art.

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used the first-from-the-largest circle die in the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a circle of Mossy Meadow.  To expedite, I ran the card stock thru the Big Shot with the Circle die and the smaller Rose Garden Framelit in place at the same time.

Then I used a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and cut two of the small Rose Wonder cuts – and I set one aside to use later.  I matted the die cut Mossy Meadow circle on a circle of Blushing Bride – which I fussy cut by tracing the outer edge of the same Circle die I used earlier and then cutting it.  I SNAILd the Mossy Meadow circle to its Blushing Bride mat and worked on the rose.

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

To color the rose, I used my designated clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush and picked up Watermelon Wonder ink.  To do that, I just squeezed the lid of my Watermelon Wonder ink pad down into the pad itself – which transfer ink into the lid.  Then you can just use that as a palette to pick up your ink.  I kept adding the ink, shading where it seemed like there might be shadows, petals curled over, etc.  In order to “see” the petals – I left the Mossy Meadow die cut in place in the circle while I colored it.  And, yes – it also kept me from making a ridiculous mess on my Gold rose die cut! 🙂

When I was happy with the rose coloring, I pulled out the Mossy Meadow rose die cut and I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere one of the Gold Foil rose die cuts back into the opening.  Then I popped the circular art piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The sentiment is from the Any Many More stamp set, stamped in Watermelon Wonder on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I fussy cut a banner end and edged it with my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker.  I made a similar little banner with a short piece of Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding, and inserted them into the circle – between the Mossy Meadow Circle and its mat.  (I got lucky and there was a gap in the SNAIL right about where I wanted the banner to fit.  When you make this card – might be good to make your banners and stick them in at the same time that you adhere the two circles together! 😉

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I stamped “and many more” in Watermelon Wonder onto a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Then I adhered that leftover Gold Foil rose die cut, with the Fine-Tip-Glue Pen, to the bottom corner.  I used my Paper Snips to trim off the excess rose.  It seemed like a good idea – so I used my “real” Clear Wink of Stella and brushed inside the die cut to add a little shimmer!

Then I matted it on Mossy Meadow and Blushing Bride, and SNAILd it into my Watermelon Wonder card base.

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The card front is SNAILd on – and then I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels and that was it for the card!

The Whisper White Medium Envelope is decorated on the front with a rose from the Rose Wonder stamp set (yep – got this in a bundle with the Rose Garden Framelits!), stamped in Watermelon Wonder.  Once again, I painted the whole rose with my Clear Wink of Stella dipped in Blushing Bride ink…

…and the inside of the envelope got a liner from a Mossy Meadow piece from the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Series Paper stack, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelit!

Rose Garden Happy Birthday 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A pretty birthday card using some of the prettiest paper we’ve had from Stampin’ Up!  Birthday Bouquet is just beautiful and I hope that you have it in your stash! 🙂
