Stampin’ Up! Going Places Mini Murse in a Box

All my bags are packed (sort of)…..

I’m ready to go (mostly)….

I’m standing’ here – outside your door (no – don’t go to the door, I’m not really there)….

Already I’m so tired-of-traveling I could cry-ai-ai…..ai ai…. 🙂

No – I don’t intend to quit my day job and take up singing or song-writing!

But, I am getting close to being ready to head out.  I mailed home three boxes today – so heavy I could hardly carry them (thank goodness for if-it-fits-it-ships pricing!) and even threw my back out (why not?!?) and I’m still worried about how heavy my luggage will be.  I think if I’m going to keep doing this travel-around-for-work thing, I’m going to need a motor home, specially equipped with a stamping room! Whatcha think? 😉

So, today’s post is quick.  I’ll be adding a tutorial over on the Tutorials page (seems like a good place to put it, yes?) with the details on making these cute little treat boxes.  I got the idea from Kristi Gray, a fellow Happy Stamper, who shared her little treat boxes that she’d made after seeing a tutorial from Sam Donaldson, in the UK.  I was tickled to see them – cuz they use 6″ x 6″ paper!  Which is about all I had here in Arizona.  And – you make them with the Envelope Punch Board, which I’d carefully carried all the way here and never used.  Cuz I didn’t have any paper big enough to make an envelope with – yes, pretty awesome planning!

As soon as I saw them, I got the idea to make a little bag in a box for the folks in my team here.  I used Going Places DSP – cuz it’s mostly guys!  Take a look-see:

Now, Sam (from the UK) made hers to hold a Cadbury egg.  Since it’s not quite Easter, those are not easy to find.  But!  These little gems also perfectly hold three Lindor Truffles! 🙂

They are ridiculously easy to make.  You basically do the same types of steps with your Envelope Punch board that you would do to make an envelope.

Line up at 1 3/8″ – punch and score.  Slide the paper to the left to line up with the 4″ mark – punch and score.  Then you just turn the paper, line up the score mark – punch and score.  And keep doing that all the way around.  It’ll look like this:

Then it’s just a matter of a few snips, some Glue Dots and folding – and you end up with a Bag-in-a-Box!

See how the little inside pulls together and looks a little like a purse?  Which, of course, would be a Murse for these! 😉

Watch for the Tutorial – I promise to get it uploaded soon!  Maybe even tonight after I’ve done the rental car return shuffle and settled in the hotel.

I used the sentiment from Helping Me Grow (Occasions catalog) – and stamped it on Very Vanilla card stock.  I used Mossy Meadow for the Going Places DSP that didn’t have Lost Lagoon coloring in it, and Marina Mist for those that did.  I very scientifically measured – I stamped the sentiment, lined it up in my trimmer and cut it!  Then I used my Washi Label Punch to cut each end.  And I popped them on with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

I punched the holes in the top with my 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch – and then stuck the truffles in and closed each little bag with a length of Crumb Cake 3/8″ Striped Satin Ribbon.  I didn’t do a fussy bow – these are manly men, after all! – just tied a rough knot and called it a day!

I knocked out 11 of them in a little under an hour.  I did make one girly one – using Birthday Bouquet DSP and adding little Itty Bitty Accent punch flowers.  But….didn’t take a picture. 🙁  It was really stinkin’ cute (trust me on this!) – I’ll be making them again – maybe for Easter – with an actual Cadbury Egg!

So.  Enjoy these.  Think about making a couple….dozen?….for Easter.  Or a birthday party favor.  Or as dinner party place cards (and favor!).  I see lots of possibilities for these!  They’re a super fun way to use up some of that extra DSP I know you have sitting around!  And you can get 4 out of each 12″ x 12″ sheet – how cool is that?

I just realized that I totally lied to you yesterday!  I told you I’d have a sneak peek at one of the new Sale-A-Bration goodies and then I didn’t.  Sorry about that – I’ll bring that to you on Monday.  Promise!

Have a great Saturday….

    • Well….I didn’t tell them they were murses – so they don’t really that they’re “cute”! But they are, right?? Thanks, Amy! 🙂
