Stampin’ Up! Botanicals Just For You!

Happy First-Day-Of-The-Weekend, folks!  I hope you have pretty weather and a lovely day planned!  My day revolves around frantically trying to finish up a few cards to take with me for next week.  Oh – and packing.  Clothes are easy!  Stampin’ stuff….not so much!  What to take?  What to leave?  What if I leave something and then just NEED it when I’m there?!?!  Oh the stress!  I’m thinkin’ that I’m going to take only Occasions and SAB stamps and DSPs…and a couple of staple sentiment sets from the Annual Catalog.  And the card stock that coordinates with the DSP.  And punches.  And Framelits.  And TIEFs.  And – of course! – my Big Shot!  Which sounds like a completely doable (if suitcase-busting!) plan.  If only I could wiggle my nose like Samantha Stevens and my bags would be packed!  I kinda dated myself right there, didn’t I!?!? 😉

Anyway – I’ve got a pretty card to share today that uses what is likely my very favorite suite from the Occasions Catalog – the Botanical Gardens Suite.  I love everything associated with this suite.  This card uses the Botanical Builder Framelits and the Botanical Gardens DSP.  I combined it with a sentiment from Watercolor Words (another fave set from the Annual Catalog), and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I didn’t come up with the layout on my own – you knew that, didn’t you? – I let the talented folk over at Mojo Monday give me a starting point.  So, I used the Mojo Monday sketch challenge #429:

MM 429 Sketch

I started by SNAILing a panel of the Botanical Gardens DSP onto a Mossy Meadow card stock mat.  That’s the big card front.  For the smaller rectangle, I used the same DSP design, but covered it with a piece of the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum from the Sale-a-Bration flyer.  Before I adhered the vellum to the DSP, though, I heat embossed – in Black – the sentiment from Watercolor Words onto the vellum.  Once that cooled, I used my Handheld Stapler to adhered the vellum to the DSP.  Then I SNAILd it all to a Mossy Meadow Mat and SNAILd that to the card front.

I used some 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and wrapped it around the card front and secured it in the back with scotch tape.

The focal art is made with several die cuts from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  First I cut the leaf design from a piece of Kraft Corrugated Paper.  I cut a circle out of that paper with the 2 3/8″ circle in my Circle Collection Framelits.  I matted it with another design from Botanical Gardens DSP – punching it with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.  And I added a third mat, using the 2 3/4″ circle die from the Circle Collection.  I SNAILd them all together and then “stitched” around the largest mat with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  I used dots – instead of dashes! – for my stitching.  I stuck it to the Burlap Ribbon and the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and a little SNAIL.

I cut several flower shapes with the Botanical Builders Framelits – using Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze from the Regals Backgrounds DSP.  The Crushed Curry flower was first stamped in Crushed Curry ink with the flower image in Botanical Blooms.  You can see I also cut a fern from the Old Olive paper in the Brights Backgrounds DSP.  I curled all their little petals with my bone folder and then stuck them down ever-so-artfully, using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Please also notice that I also used the Corrugated Leaf cutout!  Yes, I’m just ever-so-thrifty!

I stuck some Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the center of the flowers.  And added a Botanical Garden Jewel – and that was all it took!

Botanicals Just For You 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I used the burlap-ribbon-mimicking design from Timeless Textures across the bottom of a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped the images a few times – using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line them up and keep it straight.  First time down the line, I stamped it with Mossy Meadow.  I stamped it off once before stamping the card each time.  Then I went back down it, using Crushed Curry, and still stamping off once first.  I offset the Crushed Curry images ever-so-slightly from the Mossy Meadow image!

I also added a few of the flowers from Watercolor Words – in Mossy Meadow.  I stamped the image three times without re-inking.

The panel was SNAILd onto a Mossy Meadow mat and then into my Old Olive card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I made a custom envelope (I think they’re useful for cards with lots of sticky-out embellishments – you can give them some extra room in your own envelope) using a piece of Whisper White Envelope Paper and my Envelope Punch Board.  Once I had the envelope put together, I added some more of the Watercolor Words flowers to the front, as well as the Timeless Textures faux Burlap Ribbon image in Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry…

… and then I made a custom liner with the Botanical Gardens DSP.  See how to do all this on my Tutorials page! 🙂

This is the very best card I have seen so far using this Botanicals dsp and stamps. I love it with the burlap ribbon. BEAUTIFUL work of art.

  2. My – what a wonderfully nice thing to say! Thanks so much! 🙂

  3. I agree with Kay…I think this is the best card that I’ve seen with that DSP too! I love it! The corrugated paper is perfect with your die cut and the burlap ribbon just tops it off perfectly. Awesome!!! 🙂

Your card is so very pretty, lots of details. I had it pined knowing I would want to CASE it. The sketch from Mojo Monday is almost the same as the sketch you made only upside down. Thank you for the inspiration!!
