Stampin’ Up! White Christmas and….Blog Candy!

Happy Monday!

Sorry to start a blog post with an oxymoron…. 😉

After 4 days off, it’s hard to go back to work – at least it is for me!  I have just enough “slug” in me to kind of like 4 days of “slug”-ness.  Anyway…I hope your efforts to get back into the swing of things are going well!

A final reminder that today is the very last day of the Online Extravaganza – and the final day of Double Peppermints.  You can get all the details down below, including links to the sales, and to the final Flash Sale of Extravaganza – which is also today only!

And that’s the last time I’ll bug you with that – promise! 🙂

One other little admin-y thing.  Today is an Anniversary for me.  Yup.  One year ago, today, I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!  Interestingly (or maybe not?), I did it whilst in a hotel!  Just like I am today!  Hmm….  So, to celebrate the occasion, I’m giving some Blog Candy away.  Read on down to see what’s on the table and how to get your name in the hat! 🙂

Today’s share is a Christmas card – using the Annual Catalog stamp set called White Christmas.  First time I’d used it and I love all the little images in it!  I paired that with the Home for Christmas DSP and came up with….well, take a look-see:

White Christmas 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The layout was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #296.  Do go over and check out the projects of all the talented artists who play along – and maybe play along yourself!

SSSC 296

I really wanted to use the trees image in the White Christmas set – but it was too large to fit in the circle that the design called for.  So, I decided to fall back on a technique I’ve used a few times in the past – a layered image.  So, I laid out my Very Vanilla circle – it’s a 2 3/8″ circle from the Circles Collection Framelits – and my Very Vanilla strip onto the Home for Christmas DSP that I’d decided would be my card front.  I used some of the cool Post-It note tape (just bought some of that this weekend – it’s awesome!) to hold all of the pieces in place.  Then I inked up the trees image with Basic Black Archival Ink, and stamped the circle, the strip and the background all at the same time.  I had to stamp it twice – but I got it! 🙂

White Christmas 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added the White Christmas buck – in Early Espresso ink – to the circle, as well as one of the tiny birds in Cherry Cobbler (I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker to color him in and the Basic Black marker to touch up his eye and his wing).  To make a little “snow”, I used a Blender Pen and some Pool Party ink and colored in the snow-bank.  Then I SNAILd the circle to a mat that I’d punched from Mint Macaron card stock with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

White Christmas 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The sentiment is from the White Christmas set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  A few golden metallic stars from the Metallics Sequin Assortment, each embellished with a Rhinestone Basic Jewel completed the embellishments.  The strip is also matted on a piece of Mint Macaron and SNAILd to the card front. And then I popped the completed circle over the stamped image – lining everything up – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a Snowflake Element – I squished it in my Versamark pad and then into my Pool Party Pad, then sprinkled it with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  It’s adhered with a little bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. I gave it a Rhinestone, just to bling it up and tie it in with the stars.

White Christmas 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The final element of the front of the card is the ribbon-y looking piece up in the top right corner.  I squished a little strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper into my Pool Party ink pad – I wanted the Dazzle – but not the “white-ness” of the glimmer paper.  Then I cut a banner end (yes, I didn’t bring my Banner Triple Punch, so had to go old-school!) on the strip.  I adhered a slightly smaller piece of the Home for Christmas DSP, also banner-ized.  I adhered everything together and to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the inside, I used a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the second White Christmas sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.  Adding another Early Espresso tree (just one side of the front image), Cherry Cobbler bird and a star (colored with my Daffodil Delight Marker) seemed like a grand idea.  So I did!

White Christmas 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd that to my Mint Macaron card base and then popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the envelope, I added a Home for Christmas DSP liner, cut with the Envelope Liner Framelit, to a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope….

White Christmas 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and an Early Espresso buck and Daffodil Delight star to the front.

White Christmas 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  This is such a fun stamp set – with so many images to choose from.  I’m really glad that it made it from last year’s Holiday Catalog to the Annual Catalog – hopefully it’ll be around for a long time! 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekly Deals and….all the info on the Stamps-N-Lingers 2015 Occasions Catalog Shares.  Hope you’re ready for that! 🙂

  1. Sounds like a fun way to get ready for Christmas, Pat! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  2. Kathy (cards_by_kp)

Santa can’t bring me what I need most this year — my health — but I hope he brings you everything you want.

  3. Hi Mary! I found you through Amy K. 🙂 I enjoy seeing your posts in the blog circles. 🙂 I’m hoping “Santa” brings me both a FUSE tool and a MISTI this year…but I think he’ll bring me at least a Visa gift card, courtesy of my mother, which I can use for crafty supplies. Either way, can’t complain! 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway! Congrats on the anniversary. I’ve been eyeing all of the things you’re giving away, so I’m crossing my fingers!

    • Oh a Misti! I’ve heard fun things about them – if you get one, let me know how you like it, okay? Thanks for the nice words – and good luck in the draw for the candy! 🙂

      • Will do! 🙂 Btw, you make beautiful cards! I love how you inked up the Glimmer Paper in the card above. I’ll have to try that! 😉

  4. Sandra Kukla Schroeder

I would like Santa to bring me a set of Inktense watercolor pencils, all the current SU designer series papers, and more storage for ink pads.

  5. Hey Sandra! Fun list – hope you get some of those under the tree this year. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  6. Judy Gummo

I am a new demonstrator from the Buffalo NY area and love your blog. It is helping me with my SU business……providing many ideas.

    • Judy – welcome to Stampin’ Up! I know you’re having fun with all your new goodies. I’m glad that my blog is helping you with ideas!! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  7. Dana

Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary! Terrific card Mary! I love that the scene spills onto the card outside the defined circle. I will need to remember that fabulous idea!

My Christmas wish list includes just about anything SU!

  8. Kelly

Don’t think I made the time deadline, but I’d love a little more time to stamp and play from Santa this year!!

    • You didn’t, Kelly 🙁 But I sure do appreciate you taking time to leave a comment anyway – and hope that your wish for more time comes true! 🙂
