Good Blog-Hop-Thursday-Morning to y’all!  I hope you’re ready for some beautiful projects from all the Ladies-Who-Hop.  Yes – I know.  Those are the exact same words I used last week to open up the Blog Hop post.  Let’s call it our little tradition, shall we? 🙂

When this posts, I’ll be starting day 2 of my meeting here in Savannah.  Yesterday, we were done at 11:30.  Yes.  A.M.  After starting at the crack of 9 am.  I’m not entirely sure why day 2 wasn’t in the afternoon….but, not my meeting, so….I’ll spend another day in lovely Savannah!  Which I’m currently spending in my room.  I’ve got a show on the television playing in the background called Million Dollar Real Estate (Listing??) Los Angeles.  Have you ever seen it?  One realtor dude shows up in a different high dollar car – Porsche, Mercedes, Bentley – in almost every shot.  He did one deal where he made – HIS commission – $487,000.  Four Hundred.  Eighty Seven.  THOUSAND dollars.  In.  One.  Deal.

I’m definitely in the wrong line of work.

Of course, he has to drive around in Hollywood traffic.  So….there’s that.

He doesn’t seem to mind.

$487,000.  One deal.

Sheesh!!

On to the reason you’re here!  Today’s blog hop challenge was a color challenge – we were to use Mossy Meadow, Real Red and Very Vanilla.

5 Nov Happy Stamper Blog Hop challenge

Pretty darned perfect colors for a Christmas card, yes?  And even perfect-er for Home for Christmas DSP, Reason for the Season, and the Festive Flower punch.  Toldja you’d see a festive flower again this week! 🙂  Take a look-see:

Reason for the Season 10 - Stamps-N-Linegrs

This time I went straight-up traditional poinsettia!  Doesn’t get much more Christmas-y than that, does it? 🙂  I started by SNAILing a piece of the Home for Christmas DSP onto a mat of Real Red card stock.

The center element is a piece of Real Red, SNAILd onto a mat of Very Vanilla.  I wanted a little interest on that piece, but it for sure couldn’t be anything very much pattern (at least for me).  So, I went back to my Simply Scored board, and made a quilt pattern.  I don’t have the diagonal plate for the board, so I just turned the piece of card stock on an angle and scored all the lines.  Then I turned it about 45 degrees and did it again.

Reason for the Season 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I punched the corners with the corner rounder on my Envelope Punch Board, SNAILd it to its Very Vanilla Mat and then to the card front!  I really love how the score lines add texture and interest, without being too “busy” on the already pretty “active” DSP card front!

I built my poinsettia, stamping the petals in Real Red ink onto Real Red card stock.  I punched 8 of the smaller petals in the set, and 4 of the double-petals using the bundled Festive Flower Punch.  I didn’t need or use the largest petal – too big for my card!  I once again sponged the edges with Real Red, and then folded each petal and unfolded it, to create some life-like-ness for the flower.

Reason for the Season 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I punched two 7/8″ Scalloped Circles in Real Red and attached the larger petals to one circle and the smaller petals to the other circle, with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the two flower layers together with more of the Liquid Glue.

I cut two of the stamens from Daffodil Delight card stock, adhered them on the flower with Liquid Glue.  Then I decided to add another little element.  I colored some Pearl Basic Jewels with a Yellow Sharpie (remember, you can color these with an alcohol based pen!), and then added a little teensy brown Sharpie dot on each pearl.  When I added them to the card stock stamens….wow!  Talk about “real” looking! 🙂

I used some Glue Dots and added several loops of Silver Cording Trim behind the flower and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I went to the Versatile Christmas set, and stamped it in Real Red on a piece of Very Vanilla.  I fussy cut banner ends, and SNAILd it to a Real Red card stock mat that had been given the same treatment.  I nestled the sentiment banner into the leaves of the flower, using strategically placed Liquid Glue to make sure it stayed there.

Reason for the Season 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the whole card front to my Mossy Meadow card base….and moved inside!

I went back to Versatile Christmas.  I stamped two of the sentiments on a piece of Very Vanilla, in Mossy Meadow ink.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get everything lined up.  When you do this, be sure the first image has dried before you move the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig acetate down to get the second image lined up.  Or you’ll end up with ink all over the place….

I added one of the poinsettia images from the Reason for the Season set – it’s a three-step stamp.  First, I stamped the outline in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I stamped the leaves in Real Red, and finally stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow.  Just to be little different  – I put it in the top inside corner.  I’m a wild and crazy stamper! 😉

Reason for the Season 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the Very Vanilla card to a piece of Real Red and then to the inside of the card.

For the envelope, I stamped another of the poinsettia images on the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope….

Reason for the Season 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

….and added some more the poinsettia Home for Christmas DSP as a liner using my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Reason for the Season 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila – a really traditional looking Christmas card!  I sometimes have trouble with the busier DSP images, but I like how this complements the Festive Flower poinsettia – and I think the solid colored, but subtly textured, center element tones everything down and brings it all together.  What do you think?
