Stampin’ Up! Fun Fold Festival of Trees….and a Surprise Inside!

Okay.  It’s official.  I.  Hate.  Standard.  Time.  Hate hate hate.  That’s because I, as if I were a farmer (no – a REAL one!  Not a little farm with a few horses on it!) want to go to bed as soon as it gets dark.  My body says….nighty night!  Which is not even handy when that happens at 5! 😉  And then it’s still dark until like freakin’ noon.  Slight – very slight! – exaggeration, perhaps.  But it’s pretty late when the sun finally decides to get the heck back up!  In short – the day is short.  The night is long.  I.  Hate.  It.

Please don’t send flames at me if you’re one of those people who love the winter dark.  If such a person even exists!

Okay – so on to my share today.  I saw a fun card on Pinterest.  I tracked down the creator’s blog (Fine Paper Arts) and….did some Google translation from German to English.  And then did my own thing with it!

This card uses the Tree Punch and the Festival of Trees stamp set – which I bought for 15% as a bundled set!  Take a look see:

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Well, that’s not a great picture to start with – here’s one that shows the fun fold…

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

There – that’s better!  So – I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, cut at 10 3/4″ x 4 1/2″, and then I scored that at 3 5/8″ and 7 1/4″.  I made two panels of Very Vanilla and two mats from the Home for Christmas DSP.  I SNAILd one Very Vanilla piece to its mat and set it aside.

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the three trees, I punched two from one design from Home for Christmas.  Then I cut a piece of Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed it with the snowflake flurry image from Wonderland.  The flakes are stamped with Versamark, sprinkled with Gold Stampin’ Powder and heated up.

I laid the Very Vanilla stock over it’s mat, and then punched the third tree with the Tree Punch.  Then I SNAILd the embossed vellum behind the Very Vanilla Card Stock.  When I SNAILd the card stock to its DSP mat, that sandwiched the gold embossed vellum between the two pieces, making a window.

I used my 2 1/2″ punch and punched a circle in the Crumb Cake card stock – and then SNAILd the card front onto the card.  The picture above shows how it looks from the inside of the card.

Back on the front, I SNAILd the green DSP tree onto the card.  Then I added Mossy Meadow “stitches” with my Stampin’ Write Marker to that tree and the vellum window tree.  I SNAILd the music tree to a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock, added the Mossy Meadow stitches, and fussy cut it with my snips.  That one I popped onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, making sure that I didn’t have any over my Vellum window.  To top it off, I punched a teeny star from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using a punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, and adhered it to the tree with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Festival of Trees, in Mossy Meadow ink onto the card front, and SNAILd it onto the front panel of the card.

Festival of Tress Fun Fold 4- Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I determined where I wanted my sentiment to be – it needed to be placed so that it would show when the card was standing up.  I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow, and then added two Pearl Basic Jewels on either side of it – to prop the card up.

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Above that, I stamped the pretty floral scroll tree from Festival of Trees in Mossy Meadow – then added the Christmas balls in Cherry Cobbler.  I SNAILd that panel to the other end of the card (making sure it was on the “inside”!)

And that was it – just needed to make a custom envelope.  I used a piece of Very Vanilla Envelope Paper and made an envelope for a 4″ x 4 1/2″ card – that was as close as I could get to the actual card size of 3 1/2 x 4 1/2″.  I stamped the front with another of the floral scroll trees and Christmas balls….

…and I also made a custom liner with a little piece of Home for Christmas DSP.  You can find the instructions for using the Envelope Punch Board to make custom envelopes and liners over at my Tutorials page!

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 10 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A fun fold card all ready for sending Christmas greetings. 🙂

Wait.

What?  Oh yes….the surprise!

Festival of Tress Fun Fold 12 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Yep – that’s a battery operated tea light.  And looky-looky what happens if you put it inside the card and dim the lights!

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 11 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Seriously?

Festival of Trees Fun Fold 14 - Stamps-N-Lingers

How cool is that?!?!  I was so tickled with how it looked when I dimmed the lights to take the picture, I vowed to make another card like this really soon.  That’s a hint that you might be seeing another version in the next few days.  Just sayin’.

I hope that you like this card as much as I do and that you’ll give it a try soon!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the new Weekly Deals and updates from Stampin’ Up!
