Stampin’ Up! Papillon Potpourri and Watercolor Wishes for a Happy Birthday!

Friday Friday!!  Hope you’re all looking forward to a nice, Fall weekend!  I know that I am – the weather promises to be very Fall-ish.  And it’s too early for leaf burning, so we can keep the windows open and enjoy it!

My share for today is neither Fall-ish, Thanksgiving-ish, or Christmas-ish!  It’s a birthday card requested by a friend for her friend.  Description of the recipient:  Not woodsy.  A girly- girl.  Likes shoes.  Wears heels.

Not a lot to go on.  So…..I decided on flowers and butterflies!  We’ll find out soon whether I hit the mark or need to take a mulligan and try again! 🙂

I used some Papillon Potpourri, a little Watercolor Wishes, the Fluttering TIEF and some Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The design is from the Pals Paper Arts Sketch #269.  Be sure to head over as the week progresses to see what folks come up with!

PPA 269

I started by coloring one of the big, gorgeous flowers in the Timeless Elegance DSP (an Annual Catalog offering!).  I used Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and a little Wild Wasabi – courtesy of my Many Marvelous Markers set.  I colored everything in, and then outlined it, and added some shading with Calypso Coral on the flowers.  The centers are Daffodil Delight and So Saffron.  Then I fussy cut the whole thing out!

To make the card front, I took a piece of the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP and ran it thru the Big Shot in my Fluttering TIEF (tip: be sure to double check that you have the paper in the folder correctly so that you get the embossing on the side that you want!).  Then I SNAILd it to a Gold Foil Mat.

The circular elements are a Tea Lace Paper Doily and a gold Metallic Doily.  I just adhered them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and then I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips.  I did the same with my fussy-cut Timeless Elegance flower.  Then I took a little more of the glue and spread it around on the flower centers, sprinkled that with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Just a little bit of sparkle!  Finally, I SNAILd the whole card front to my Basic Black card base.

The butterflies are all from the Papillon Potpourri set.  I picked the flowery design for both the large Elegant Butterfly and the smaller Bitty Butterfly punches.  I inked the stamps up with Versamark and stamped the flutterbies on Gold Foil (liberally rubbed with my Embossing Buddy first!).  Then I sprinkled Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the stamped images, hit them with my heat tool, and then punched them out with their corresponding punch.  Easy peasy! 🙂

I curled all their little wings up a little, and added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to each butterfly.  I saved them for just a few minutes more….

The sentiment is from the ever-so-useful and beautiful Watercolor Wishes stamp set.  The sentiments in this set are wonderful – and the fonts are perfect.  I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I made the banner end with my snips and then edged the banner with my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker.  I used a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to a piece of Gold Foil and then fussy cut the mat out – again with my Paper Snips.

I ran a length of Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine and piece of Gold Metallic Thread thru a Gold Basic Metal Button, tied a little bow and adhered it to the sentiment banner with Liquid Glue.  Then I popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Once I had the sentiment where I wanted it, I added the small butterflies (Bitty Butterfly punch) with more Liquid Glue, and then put the single Elegant Butterfly up in the top corner.  And the front was done!

Watercolor Wishes Papillion Potpourri 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I heat embossed (in Gold) the same small flowery butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri set in the bottom corner of a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I added the Birthday sentiment from Watercolor Wishes in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  The mat is another piece of Gold Foil (note to self: buy more Gold Foil in next order! 🙂 ).

Watercolor Wishes Papillion Potpourri 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added one more little line of Rhinestones at the top….cause I thought they looked cool and girly and sparkly!

For the envelope, I embossed one more butterfly in Gold on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope….

And (you guessed it!) added a liner of Gold and Black from the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP using my Envelope Liner Thinlits.

So – we’ll find out in a couple of days whether this will work or whether I’ll be back to the drawing board! 😉  I hope she likes it – and hope that you enjoyed it as well.

Enjoy your last day of the week and I’ll be back tomorrow with another project to share!

TTFN….

Mary
