For today, I have a share that’s so in my wheelhouse that I might have made it.
Oh wait.
I DID make it!
A good friend of mine had surgery yesterday – kind of “big deal” surgery – and I wanted to make a Get Well card for him. He’s not a fisherman, so my By the Tide set wasn’t really the right fit. I decided to go back to a new, old standby. Vintage Leaves and the matching Leaflets (I know I don’t have to mention the bundle savings….). And the Woodland TIEF! Take a look-see:
Guys, I’m sorry for the pictures of this card! I couldn’t get enough light in the right spot to really let you see the Woodland embossing. You’ll have to trust me – it’s really there and it looks really awesome! 🙂
I started by pulling out some Farmer’s Market DSP from the Annual Catalog. I picked the Rich Razzleberry plaid and the Hello Honey geometric patterns for my art accent and my card front mat. I paired them with some Rich Razzleberry card stock. I ran a piece of that card stock thru my Big Shot with the maple leaf from the Leaflets Thinlits set. I saved the cut out for a little later. Then I ran that card stock back thru, this time in my Woodland TIEF.
To assemble the card front, I cut a square of the plaid Farmer’s Market DSP and SNAILd it to the center of the Hello Honey paper. Then I SNAILd the leaf cut-out panel over the top of that. Instant art work! I popped the whole card front onto a Rich Razzleberry card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Using the Rich Razzleberry leaf cut out from the first step, I heat embossed it in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder with the matching leaf stamp from Vintage Leaves. Yes, indeed, it would probably have been easier to stamp and heat emboss it BEFORE cutting it out, but….that’s the easy way. Actually, it was still pretty easy, since this is a photopolymer stamp and that makes it relatively simple to line everything up! You can do it in whichever order floats ya!
I pulled out a matching leaf that I’d cut out of a piece of Kraft Envelope Paper a while back – making a sponge stencil – that I’d been saving for just the perfect moment (sometimes it pays to be a pack-rat!). I made a whole bunch of little dots with my Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Marker all around the edges of the leaf. I like this effect – I think it makes it look a little more organic and home-spun.
At that point, I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the two leaves together, creating sort of a shadow-effect. I didn’t plan this when I started the card – it just sort of developed and became the right thing to do! 🙂
I made the sentiment banner by stamping the sentiment from And Many More (this is a super useful sentiment set!) in Rich Razzleberry onto a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, and cutting it out with one of my Bitty Banners Framelits dies. I added the little dots to help it tie in with the card, and adhered it to the card front with the Liquid Glue.
The leaves are popped on with Dimensionals and then a small bow made from new-in-the-Holiday-Catalog Gold Cording Trim was adhered with Liquid Glue. Then I set that all aside to give everything time to dry and set.
As you’ve already seen in the pictures, I left this as a blank card on the inside. I took a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, gave it the lots-of-little-dots treatment and then added a bottom strip of plaid Farmer’s Market DSP matted on a piece of Rich Razzleberry.
Since I’m still in the Honeymoon phase with my Envelope Liner Framelits, I added some more of the plaid DSP to a Crumb Cake Medium Envelope.
Et Voila! A nice set that I think is masculine without going over the top. He’s an older gentleman, and I hope that he likes it and gets a little smile when he opens it up!
