Stampin’ Up! Hearth and Home Sleigh Ride

Today’s share ended up being more of a CASE of my friend Amy Koenders’ card than I meant it to be.  It was a busier day that went longer than I’d planned and I didn’t even start working on my card until almost 7:30 – which is approximately 5 min before I’m thinking about bedtime!  I’d already decided I wanted to play with my new Hearth and Home Thinlits (which will be available for you guys on 1 Sept – and comes in a 15% off bundle called the Happy Scenes Photopolymer Bundle) and the new Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  I’d been thinking it would be cool to somehow use the Sleigh Ride die cuts behind the Hearth and Home window die cut and I didn’t change my mind even after seeing Amy’s card, so mine ended up being sort of like her’s and sort of not!! 😉  Take a look see at what I came up with:

The design is based on the Stamping & Blogging’s Sketch & Stamp SB117.  Take a minute to go over there and see what’s going on!

SB117 Sketch

I started by laying out what my “scene” would be behind my window.  I decided that since I was going with a fall/autumn theme I would leave the sleigh edgelit out and only use the trees and houses.  I cut the trees in Cajun Craze and the houses in Basic Black.  Then I also cut a second trees scene in Crushed Curry – but I snipped off the trees so it was just a rolling hill.  The “sky” is a piece of Night of Navy behind the die-cut pieces.

On the Crushed Curry piece, I stamped the tree and pumpkins scene from Happy Scenes (comes bundled with the Hearth and Home Thinlits and will be available 1 Sept) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored the pumpkins with my Pumpkin Pie SU! Stampin’ Write Marker and the leaves with the Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  Then I stamped the image again on a piece of Vellum Card Stock and fussy cut the tree.

I used a little dab of Multi-purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the vellum tree over the image on the Crushed Curry card stock.  Then I adhered all the layers together with SNAIL.

I cut the window frame from the Hearth and Home Thinlits out of Chocolate Chip Card Stock, and adhered it over the top of my layered scene with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I had to cut the dimensionals to fit behind the narrow pieces.

For the card, I used a couple of leaves from Vintage Leaves and stamped them in Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie onto a piece of Kraft Corrugated Paper (this is rapidly becoming one of my very favorite things from the new Annual Catalog!!) and then SNAILd that to a Crushed Curry mat.

I glued a piece of Hello Honey 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon to a length of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and then wrapped it around the card front, adhering it in the back with some tape.  Not washi – just regular old clear tape!

Then I stuck the window scene to the card front using both Stampin’ Dimensionals and SNAIL.

For the sentiment, I went to the For All Things set.  I stuck a sticky note over the word “fall” and inked up “Hello” with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and then I inked “fall” with my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Crushed Curry card stock, and punched the end with the Banner Punch.

I put a bunch of dots of Cajun Craze around the edge of the banner, in lieu of a mat, then adhered it to the window with SNAIL and Dimensionals.  I took one of the acorns from the Holiday Catalog’s Into the Woods Elements (available 1 Sept), colored the top with Cajun Craze and adhered it to the banner with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The three little leaves are also from the Into the Woods Elements, and I colored the veins of the leaves with Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie.  They’re also adhered with the Liquid Glue (that stuff’s handy!).

I popped the card front onto my Cajun Craze card base and moved inside.  I stamped the tree and pumpkins again, in Tuxedo Black, onto a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and then colored it with my markers.

Et Volia!  Card = Done!  I finished things off by giving a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope the same treatment as the inside of the card…..

Hello Fall Sleigh Ride SB117 card and envelope watermarked

….and my ensemble was complete!  I love these dies and the Happy Scenes stamp set and I’m really looking forward to playing with them some more!  I am envisioning the sleigh edgelit on a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper!!  🙂

So – there’s a sneak peek at just a few of the oh-so-cool holiday stamps and dies that you’re going to see in the Holiday Catalog!  This catalog covers Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas….

TTFN and see you tomorrow!
